Role Description The System Administrator is a full-time, on-site role based at the Tindivanam campus. This role is responsible for managing and maintaining servers, operating systems, and core IT infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance. Daily tasks include monitoring system health, applying updates and patches, managing user accounts and permissions, and performing regular backups and recovery operations.

The System

Administrator will provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students, troubleshoot hardware and software issues,



and coordinate with vendors for procurement and maintenance. The role also involves overseeing network connectivity, enforcing security policies, and documenting procedures to support reliable and secure IT operations within the university.

Qualifications

- Strong System Administration skills, including server management, operating system configuration, and user account administration.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting and Technical Support to diagnose, resolve, and prevent hardware, software, and configuration issues.
- Experience with Network Administration, including LAN/WAN management, routing, switching, and basic firewall configurations.
- Solid understanding of Information Technology fundamentals, such as security best practices, backup strategies, and IT asset management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant professional certifications (e.g., Linux, Windows Server, Cisco) are an advantage.
- Knowledge of virtualization, cloud services, and endpoint management tools is beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively with academic and administrative teams, prioritize multiple tasks, and maintain transparent documentation.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to providing inclusive, user-focused IT support within a diverse campus community.
