A Nursing Assistant (often called a Certified Nursing Assistant or CNA) provides essential, day-to-day physical and medical support to patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and rehabilitation facilities under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). - Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Help patients bathe, dress, groom, use the restroom, and maintain personal hygiene. [1, 2]

- Vital Signs &
- Monitoring:

Measure and record temperature, pulse, respiration rate, blood pressure, and report sudden changes to licensed nurses. [1, 2, 3]

- Mobility &

- Positioning:

Assist bedridden patients with turning and repositioning to prevent bedsores, and help them walk or transfer into wheelchairs. [1, 2]

- Nutrition &

- Hydration:

Serve meals, feed patients who need assistance, and track food and fluid intake. [1, 2]

- Room Maintenance &

- Safety:

Change bed linens, clean or sanitize equipment,



keep patient areas clear of hazards, and restock supplies. [1, 2]

- Documentation &

- Communication:

Record observations in patient charts, relay health concerns to the care team, and offer emotional support to patients and families. [1, 2, 3]

Qualifications &

- Requirements

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

- Training &
- Certification:

Completion of a state-approved nursing assistant or CNA training program (or equivalent GNM/ANM coursework in some regions) and passing a competency exam.
