In‑Process Quality Strategy &
- Governance
- Define the IPQC strategy, policies, and control framework aligned with company quality goals and customer requirements.
- Build and maintain Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and FMEAs for all critical processes.
- Establish sampling plans and inspection criteria based on risk, critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics, and process capability.
Real-Time Quality Control &
- Monitoring
- Implement and oversee SPC (Statistical Process Control): control charts, trend analysis, alarms, and reaction plans.
- Ensure MSA (Measurement System Analysis)—GR&R; studies, calibration schedules, gauge selection and adequacy.
- Lead first-piece/last-piece approvals, patrol inspection routines, and layered process audits across shifts.
Process Capability &
- Continuous Improvement
- Own Cp/Cpk, Pp/Ppk, yield, scrap, and rework metrics; drive actions to sustain capability ≥ target.
- Run structured problem-solving (8D, A3, DMAIC) for defects and deviations; institutionalize CAPA.
- Partner with Production/Maintenance to prevent recurrence through mistake-proofing (Poka‑Yoke) and standardized work.
Change Management &
- Current Product/Process Introduction
- Participate in APQP/PPAP activities; validate process changes, engineering changes, and new tooling.
- Approve trial runs; define control stages and ramp-up quality criteria before full release to production.
Compliance &
- Audits
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (if automotive supply), ISO 14001 (environment), and ISO 45001 (OH&S;) where applicable.
- Prepare for and lead internal audits, customer audits, and third-party certification audits for process areas.
- Maintain robust traceability and retention of quality records, e‑logs, and electronic batch travelers.
People Leadership
- Build a high-performing IPQC team; define roles, competencies, training plans, and certification pathways.
- Drive culture of discipline and accountability: daily Gemba,
tiered meetings, and escalation protocols.
- Mentor engineers on SPC, MSA, root cause analysis, and advanced quality tools.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Supplier Quality on incoming defect containment and supplier corrective actions.
- Align with R&D;/Engineering for CTQ definition, design for manufacturability (DFM), and test method validation.
- Coordinate with Logistics/Customer Quality for containment and communication on field returns, if linked to process.
Digital &
- Analytics
- Deploy digital quality dashboards (real-time FPY, defect density, top defect Pareto, capability indices).
- Champion e‑QMS/ERP integration for NCRs, CARs, approvals, and document control; enable data-driven decisions.
