API QA Engineer Manual Testing with Automation Experience

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced API QA Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in manual API testing and working knowledge of test automation. The ideal candidate will have experience validating REST and SOAP APIs, enterprise integrations, Azure services, and backend data, with a primary focus on manual testing and a secondary focus on automation.

This role emphasizes 75% manual API testing and 25% automation, with no CI/CD experience required.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform manual API testing using Postman, SoapUI, or ReadyAPI.

- Test REST and SOAP APIs, including JSON/XML payloads, HTTP methods, request and response validation, status codes, headers, and error handling.

- Validate API authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and API keys.

- Execute functional, regression, negative, integration, and end-to-end testing.

- Test enterprise integrations involving Microsoft Azure services and Azure Data Factory (ADF).

- Perform backend data validation and database testing using SQL queries.

- Use Azure DevOps for test case management, defect tracking, and Agile project workflows.

- Support API automation using Postman/Newman, REST Assured, or Karate.

- Identify, document, troubleshoot, and track API defects in collaboration with developers and business stakeholders.

- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to test planning, execution, and quality assurance activities.

- Ensure API functionality, reliability, data accuracy,



and integration quality across enterprise applications.

Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with strong hands-on experience in API testing.

- Strong expertise in manual API testing using Postman, SoapUI, or ReadyAPI.

- Solid understanding of REST and SOAP APIs, HTTP methods, JSON, and XML.

- Experience validating API requests, responses, status codes, headers, authentication, and error scenarios.

- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services and Azure Data Factory (ADF) testing.

- Experience using Azure DevOps for test management, defect tracking, and Agile collaboration.

- Strong SQL skills for backend data validation and database testing.

- Working knowledge of API automation tools such as Postman/Newman, REST Assured, or Karate.

- Understanding of functional, regression, negative, integration, and end-to-end testing methodologies.

- Knowledge of API security and authentication mechanisms, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and API keys.

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing MuleSoft APIs and enterprise integrations.

- Familiarity with Swagger/OpenAPI specifications and API documentation.

- Basic Java or JavaScript scripting knowledge.

- Experience validating data flows and integrations across cloud-based systems.

Testing Focus
- 75% Manual API Testing: API validation, functional and regression testing, integration testing, negative testing, and backend data verification.

- 25% Automation: Supporting and maintaining API automation scripts using relevant testing frameworks and tools.
