About the role
We are looking for an AI-native Forward Development Engineer with hands-on expertise in Java (Spring Boot) and React, who can build and enhance scalable services and user-centric web applications for large-scale public health and governance platforms. By AI-native, we mean an engineer who treats AI as a core part of how software is designed, built, tested, and shipped. The engineer should use AI coding assistants and workflows to improve productivity while applying sound engineering judgment to review, validate, and take ownership of the delivered work. The role involves contributing across backend services and APIs, responsive web applications, reusable components, and automated tests. Solid problem-solving, design thinking, willingness to learn, and the ability to understand user needs and turn them into simple, maintainable solutions are important. Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Contribute to end-to-end delivery of assigned features — from understanding requirements and solution design through development, testing, and release.
• Develop and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Java / Spring Boot, following established architecture and coding standards.
• Build and enhance responsive, user-centric web applications using React.
• Apply design thinking by understanding citizen and government user needs, asking clarifying questions, prototyping where useful, and iterating toward effective solutions.
• Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) for implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation; review and validate generated output before use.
• Follow approved architecture, coding standards, security practices, and engineering guidelines.
• Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality.
• Build and maintain reusable UI components, services, and utilities.
• Collaborate with product, design, QA, and engineering team members.
• Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to unit and integration tests.
• Seek feedback, share knowledge, and learn from senior engineers and peers.
• Contribute to improving engineering practices and responsible AI-assisted development. Required Skills & Experience Core Requirements
• Education qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in any field, with IT experience.
• 2–3 years of overall software development experience.
• Hands-on experience in software or product development; SaaS / platform products are an advantage.
• Interest in and practical use of AI-assisted development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar), with willingness to validate their output carefully.




• Problem-solving mindset and ability to understand requirements and break them into manageable tasks.
• Ability to learn quickly, take feedback, and work through technical challenges.
• Exposure to Agile / Scrum ways of working.
• Hands-on exposure to Git and tools such as Docker, Jenkins, or Postman.
• Understanding of responsive web design and web application fundamentals. Backend – Java / Spring Boot (Primary Skill)
• 2–3 years of strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Understanding of REST API design, API contracts, and basic microservices concepts.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL; familiarity with NoSQL is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of authentication and authorization; exposure to OAuth2, JWT, or Keycloak is a plus.
• Exposure to messaging systems such as Kafka is a plus.
• Understanding of unit and integration testing; exposure to JUnit and Mockito is beneficial.
• Ability to read, debug, and enhance an existing codebase with guidance. Frontend – React (Secondary Skill)
• 2+ years hands-on experience building or maintaining web interfaces with ReactJS.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
• Exposure to state management approaches such as Redux, Context API, React Query, or Custom Hooks.
• Familiarity with NPM and package dependency management.
• Understanding of reusable components and basic frontend design patterns.
• Good to have: TypeScript, Webpack, Babel, CSS preprocessors, or Micro-Frontend architecture. AI-Native Engineering
• Use AI coding assistants to support day-to-day implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Write clear prompts and break work into small, well-defined tasks for AI assistants.
• Review AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and suitability; remain accountable for code submitted.
• Exposure to LLM APIs, RAG, or agentic frameworks is a strong plus. Design Thinking & Collaboration
• Show empathy for users and translate user needs into practical technical solutions.
• Be comfortable asking questions, prototyping, gathering feedback, and iterating.
• Communicate clearly with product, design, QA,
