About the Role
CEEPL is seeking an experienced HVAC Engineer to design ventilation, air-conditioning and air treatment systems for a research reactor facility. The role involves HVAC engineering from conceptual design and detailed engineering through commissioning support. The successful candidate will work closely with process, electrical, instrumentation and control, civil and fire protection teams to deliver reliable, efficient and safety-compliant HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform heat load calculations, ventilation calculations and psychrometric analysis for various facility buildings.
• Design ventilation systems with radiological zoning, directional airflow and pressure differentials to support contamination control and confinement requirements.
• Design air-conditioning and pressurised ventilation systems for control rooms, instrumentation and control areas, and electrical rooms, including redundancy and emergency ventilation provisions.
• Design filtration and exhaust systems, including HEPA and charcoal filter trains, filter housings and stack arrangements.
• Select and size chillers, air handling units (AHUs), fans, dampers, coils, pumps, filter units and heat recovery equipment.
• Design supply, return and exhaust duct networks using recognised duct sizing methods, including equal friction and static regain, and calculate system pressure drops and fan duties.
• Design chilled water and condenser water piping systems, including pipe sizing and pump selection.
• Prepare design basis documents, calculation sheets, equipment datasheets, BOQs, technical specifications, system descriptions and HVAC layouts.
• Develop HVAC drawings and layouts using AutoCAD or Revit MEP and coordinate with civil, electrical, piping,

instrumentation and fire protection teams to resolve design interfaces and clashes.
• Prepare technical documentation supporting safety analysis and regulatory reviews, and address comments arising from engineering reviews.
• Review vendor drawings and technical submittals, support technical bid evaluations, and participate in design reviews and client interactions.
• Support site inspections, filter system in-situ testing, Testing, Adjusting and Balancing (TAB), and commissioning activities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, standards, regulatory requirements and quality assurance procedures. Required Qualifications and Skills
• B.
E./B.
Tech in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification. M.
Tech in Thermal Engineering or HVAC is an advantage.
• 3–5 years of HVAC design experience in industrial facilities, power plants or process industries.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE standards, SMACNA guidelines, NFPA requirements, ISHRAE practices, the National Building Code (NBC) and applicable local codes.
• Hands-on experience with HVAC load calculation software such as HAP, Trane TRACE or equivalent tools.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit MEP is preferred.
• Strong understanding of psychrometrics, air distribution, ventilation design, duct sizing, pressure drop calculations and HVAC equipment selection.
• Ability to prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, drawings and design documentation.
• Strong communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills.

Preferred Additional Qualifications – Nuclear Sector Candidates with knowledge or experience in nuclear facilities, research reactors or safety-critical industrial ventilation systems will be preferred.
• Understanding of radiological zoning, confinement, pressure cascades, directional airflow and once-through versus recirculating ventilation systems.
• Knowledge of nuclear air treatment systems, including HEPA and charcoal filters, filter housings, filtration efficiency and leak testing.
• Familiarity with AERB safety codes and guides and applicable IAEA safety standards for nuclear and research reactor facilities.
• Understanding of safety classification, redundancy, single-failure criteria and quality assurance requirements for safety-related HVAC systems.
• Ability to prepare HVAC design documentation suitable for nuclear safety assessments and regulatory reviews.
• Familiarity with the engineering practices and design review processes of Indian nuclear organisations such as NPCIL and BARC. Preferred Technical Skills
• Exposure to airflow and flow network analysis tools such as AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow.
• Familiarity with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for airflow analysis in large halls, reactor buildings and pool areas.
• Experience with HVAC commissioning, airflow verification and filter performance testing. Why Join CEEPL?
• Contribute to specialised research reactor and nuclear infrastructure projects.
• Work on complex ventilation, air treatment and environmental control systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams on safety-critical facility design.
• Develop expertise in specialised HVAC engineering, technical reviews and nuclear facility requirements.

How to Apply
Interested candidates should submit their CV highlighting relevant HVAC design experience, software proficiency and project experience in industrial, power plant or nuclear facilities.
