About the Role
We’re hiring L1 Protocol Developers to design, develop, optimize and debug Physical Layer (PHY) features for LTE and 5G NR Radio Access Network (RAN) products. You’ll work on eNodeB/gNodeB software across vRAN, O-RAN and custom deployments, focusing on PHY algorithms, digital signal processing, RF integration and hardware acceleration. The role involves improving latency, throughput and processing efficiency while delivering high-performance 4G/5G wireless solutions. Must-Have Skills
• Strong hands-on experience in RAN Layer 1 (L1) / High PHY development for LTE and 5G NR.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
• Solid understanding of 3GPP specifications for LTE and 5G NR.
• Experience in Telecom / Wireless / 4G / LTE / 5G environments.
• Knowledge of PHY algorithms, digital signal processing (DSP) and RF fundamentals. Valuable to Have
• Experience with Intel Xeon 6 processors and Intel FlexRAN.
• Expertise in modulation and demodulation, channel coding and decoding, including FEC, LDPC and Turbo decoding.
• Knowledge of MIMO, beamforming, complex I/Q sample processing, FFT/IFFT, channel estimation and equalization.
• Experience with MATLAB, real-time embedded systems and FPGA/ASIC/GPU-based programming.
• Understanding of RF systems, antennas and radio subsystem integration.
• Experience with CPRI/eCPRI fronthaul interfaces and L1 hardware acceleration.
• Knowledge of PHY processing optimization for latency,



throughput and CPU/DSP/GPU/FPGA utilization.
• Experience with Linux-based development, debugging and performance profiling.
• Familiarity with vRAN/O-RAN architectures, virtualized DU/CU implementations and hardware acceleration.
• Experience debugging PHY issues using logs, IQ captures, protocol traces and laboratory test equipment.
• Prior experience in large-scale 4G/5G L1 product development, sustenance and customer support programs. What You’ll Do
• Design, develop and implement LTE/NR PHY algorithms and procedures for 4G/5G base stations.
• Optimize PHY processing for latency, throughput, processing efficiency and hardware resource utilization.
• Develop and debug signal-processing functions involving modulation, coding, MIMO, beamforming and channel estimation.
• Integrate L1 functionality with RF/radio, L2 and fronthaul subsystems across different platforms.
• Troubleshoot PHY and RF issues using system logs, IQ captures, lab equipment and performance measurements.
• Contribute to high-performance eNodeB/gNodeB development across vRAN, O-RAN and custom architectures.
• Support feature scalability, product sustenance, customer issue resolution and system-level performance optimization.
• Work with cross-functional engineering teams to validate features, resolve integration issues and improve product reliability.
• Senior candidates will review designs, mentor team members, drive large-scale 4G/5G L1 development programs and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
