Role Description The Lead Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the core systems that power the Superfan.ng platform. This full-time remote role involves leading backend development efforts, architecting scalable services, and ensuring high performance and reliability of the application. Day-to-day tasks include writing clean, well-structured code, conducting code reviews, mentoring other engineers, and collaborating with product and design teams to translate user needs into technical solutions. The Lead Software Engineer will also oversee technical decisions, contribute to roadmap planning, and implement best practices for testing, security, and deployment.



This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on development while providing technical leadership in a quick-evolving edtech environment. Qualifications
• Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software architecture principles.
• Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience delivering production-quality applications.
• Hands-on expertise in Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, and scalable service design.
• Solid understanding and practical use of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and patterns.
• Experience leading engineering projects or teams, including code reviews, mentoring, and technical decision-making.
• Familiarity with modern development workflows (version control, CI/CD, automated testing, and cloud infrastructure).
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional team, with clear communication and documentation skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in edtech, gaming, or culturally focused products is a plus, as is interest in African languages and heritage.
