About the Role
We are looking for skilled Music Annotators, Music Theory Specialists, Music Composers, and Music Production Experts to support an audio analysis and annotation project focused on music understanding. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with advanced knowledge of music theory, academic training in music composition or music theory, and hands-on experience in music production, audio analysis, or musical arrangement. You will analyze musical recordings and create accurate, detailed descriptions of musical structure, instruments, harmony, rhythm, melody, dynamics, transitions, and production techniques.

Key Responsibilities
• Music Structure & Composition: Identify musical sections, song structures, section functions, introductions, verses, choruses, bridges, outros, and instrumental passages.
• Instrumentation & Arrangement: Recognize instruments, playing techniques, vocal and instrumental layers, arrangement roles, and instrument entrances and exits.
• Music Theory & Harmony: Analyze chord progressions, chord names, cadences, pedal points, tonal centers, key changes, and modulations where identifiable from the audio.
• Rhythm, Tempo & Groove: Identify tempo, meter, rhythmic patterns, drum grooves, syncopation, half-time and double-time feels, and tempo changes.
• Melody & Vocal Analysis: Describe melodic contour, hooks, motifs, repetition, call-and-response, vocal delivery, and melodic development.
• Dynamics & Musical Texture: Analyze crescendos, builds, drops,



changes in intensity, layering, density, and instrumental balance.
• Music Production & Sound Design: Identify production techniques such as reverb, delay, distortion, filtering, sidechain compression, stereo imaging, and lo-fi or polished sound characteristics.
• Transitions & Audio Events: Identify fills, risers, breaks, pauses, cuts, fades, edits, beginnings, endings, and transitions between musical sections.
• Audio Annotation & Description: Produce clear, detailed, evidence-based musical descriptions using appropriate music terminology. Required Qualifications
• Master’s or PhD in Music, Music Theory, Music Composition, or a closely related specialization.
• At least one year of hands-on music production experience.
• Strong understanding of music theory, harmony, composition, arrangement, rhythm, and musical form.
• Ability to identify musical elements accurately by ear and describe them in precise, structured language.
• Strong listening, analytical, attention-to-detail, and written communication skills.
