Sector 37, Gurgaon, Harayana Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and proactive Product Development Merchant to lead execution and development for our premium knitwear division, catering specifically to boho-aesthetic global brands like Free People. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in complex fabrications, multi-stage wet/dry processing (acid washes, tie-dyes, pigment washes), and intricate embellishments (embroidery, placement prints, appliqués). You will bridge the gap between buyer design concepts, factory technical capabilities, and cost-effective bulk execution.

Key Responsibilities
1. Design Interpretation & Product Development
• Tech Pack Analysis: Interpret buyer tech packs, mood boards, and artwork files (prints and embroideries) to evaluate feasibility and cost parameters.
• Sampling Execution: Oversee the complete lifecycle of Proto, Fit, Salesman (SMS), and Pre-Production (PP) samples.




• Wash & Processing Development: Work closely with wash-house teams to achieve exact wash outcomes (acid wash, mineral wash, burnout, vintage fade)
• Artwork Execution: Coordinate placement prints, rotary prints, hand/machine embroideries, and beadwork with print/embroidery. 3. Technical & Quality Management
• Wash Shrinkage & Torque Control: Anticipate knit behavior post-heavy wash processes (acid/pigment wash). Manage wash allowances, pattern corrections, and shade-band approvals. 4. Buyer & Factory Coordination
• Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the central communication link between US/EU buyers, internal CAD/patternmakers, sampling rooms, washing units, and production teams.
• Time & Action (T&A;) Calendar: Build and strictly enforce product development T&A; schedules to ensure timely sample submission and SMS delivery. Required Qualifications & Skills

Experience:
4 to 8 years of core PD Merchandising experience in a garment export house, with at least 2–3 years handling knitwear with heavy washing and embellishments.
