The product is a gamified, quiz-first app that tests deep understanding of African proverbs, traditions, rites of passage, festivals, folklore, and customs. Designed for Africans and the global diaspora, Superfan.ng aims to make cultural learning engaging, accessible, and fun. By combining interactive content with modern technology, the platform supports learners in preserving and celebrating African heritage. Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Senior Software Engineer at Superfan.ng. The person in this role will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services that power the gamified learning experience, including APIs, data models, and integration points. Day-to-day work includes writing high-quality, testable code, conducting code reviews, optimizing performance, and improving reliability of production systems. The Senior Software Engineer will collaborate closely with product, design, and content teams to deliver new features, refine user experiences, and implement secure, maintainable technical solutions. The role also involves mentoring other engineers, contributing to technical architecture decisions,



and helping to establish best practices across the engineering team. Qualifications
• Robust foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience shipping production-grade applications.
• Hands-on experience with Back-End Web Development, including building and consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and related design patterns.
• Experience with modern backend technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python, Go, or similar), relational and/or NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms.
• Comfort with version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring/observability tools.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, communicate clearly, and collaborate across time zones.
• Prior experience in edtech, gaming, or culturally-focused products is a plus; familiarity with African languages or cultures is an advantage but not required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
