Role: Industry Consultant – Manufacturing (Discrete & Industrial)
Location:
Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru
Experience:
12
- 15 years Mode: Hybrid The Industry Consultant – Manufacturing (Discrete & Industrial) gives the Enterprise Consulting unit a true industry expert who knows how manufacturers actually run, from quote to cash and from plan to production. The role adds that sector depth to the unit's five domain pillars: Customer Experience (Cx), IT Service Management (ITSM), ERP, Human Capital Management (HCM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM). The person must understand the core industry processes from the manufacturer's own point of view, for example how Lead-to-Cash works for configurable and engineered products, with quoting, dealer networks, make-to-order and engineer-to-order flows, and milestone billing, rather than as a generic order flow. This is a senior, client-facing and practice-building role. The person will shape industry-specific offerings, lead executive conversations, and support the unit through sales, presales and partnership alliances. They will also create new consulting services and thought leadership, including AI and agentic solutions for manufacturing clients. Responsibilities
•
Key Responsibilities
• Industry overlay on the pillars. Translate discrete and industrial manufacturing context (machinery and equipment, automotive and components, aerospace and defense, durable goods) into points of view, reference architectures, use cases and accelerators for Cx, ITSM, ERP, HCM and SCM.
• Process consulting. Lead current-state assessments, process redesign and operating-model work across the industry's end-to-end processes, including Lead-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Plan-to-Produce, Design-to-Release and Issue-to-Resolution.
• Process intelligence. Use process mining and process intelligence tools to baseline performance, expose friction such as quote delays,
schedule changes and late deliveries, and build the value case for transformation.
• Sales and presales. Qualify industry opportunities, run executive discovery, build solution narratives, and support proposals, orals and client workshops.
• Partnership alliances. Build joint propositions with technology partners and ecosystem players relevant to the industry, and co-create go-to-market plays with them.
• Thought leadership. Publish points of view and whitepapers, speak at industry forums, and represent the unit in analyst briefings and client events.
• AI and agentic solutions. Define high-value AI and agentic use cases for the industry, such as quote and configuration assistants, demand and supply exception handling, predictive maintenance, quality inspection insights, warranty claim validation and service triage.
• New consulting services. Conceive, package and launch current industry consulting services, from concept and pricing logic to delivery playbooks and consultant enablement.
• Delivery advisory. Act as the domain advisor on live engagements, review deliverables for industry accuracy, and coach consultants across the pillars on industry context. Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, technology or business. Required Skills
• 12–15 years in consulting or industry-plus-consulting roles, with at least 8 years focused on discrete and industrial manufacturing clients.
• Demonstrated industry-expert knowledge of the end-to-end processes listed above,
including Lead-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay and Plan-to-Produce, and the ability to explain them from the manufacturer's point of view.
• Consulting experience across technology stacks aligned to the pillars (CRM and CX, ITSM, ERP, HCM, SCM), with depth in at least two and working knowledge of the rest. Platforms such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, SAP, Oracle and Workday are typical.
• Domain depth in at least two segments: industrial machinery and equipment, automotive and components, aerospace and defense, or durable goods.
• Proven process consulting
skills:
process discovery, BPMN modelling, value stream mapping, operating-model design and benchmarking.
• Working knowledge of process intelligence and process mining tools, and experience turning their findings into a business case.
• Track record in sales and presales: shaped and won enterprise deals, and presented to C-suite audiences.
• Experience building consulting propositions, partner alliances and published thought leadership. Preferred Skills
• MBA or a postgraduate degree in engineering management, operations or supply chain.
• Exposure to process industries (batch and recipe-based production) as an added strength.
• Platform, process or framework certifications, such as Salesforce, ServiceNow or SAP certifications, APICS (CSCP or CPIM), Lean Six Sigma, ITIL, TOGAF or a process mining tool certification.
• Familiarity with industry systems around the core platforms, such as MES, PLM, CPQ and IoT or connected-product platforms.
• Hands-on familiarity with AI and agentic frameworks, and with responsible AI governance for enterprise use.
• Published articles, conference talks or analyst recognition in manufacturing or Industry 4.0 transformation.
• Experience working with global delivery models and distributed teams.
