About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior VoIP Infrastructure Engineer to manage and maintain a large, multi-server Asterisk PBX environment. The role involves Asterisk dial-plan and AGI development, Linux and container hosting, networking, databases, asynchronous messaging, cloud infrastructure, and observability.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable troubleshooting SIP protocols and dial plans at a low level while automating, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure at scale. The candidate will work closely with VoIP and Network Operations Centre (NOC) teams to ensure system reliability, performance, and availability.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop advanced Asterisk dial plans, including large machine-generated dial plans, AGI scripting, and dynamic dial-plan generation using PHP, Python, or Bash. Work with Asterisk, AGI, AMI, chan_sip, and PJSIP.
- Set up, manage, and troubleshoot WebRTC and SIP technologies, including ICE/STUN/TURN, SIP over TLS, and SRTP. Build and maintain browser-based softphones using SIP.js or JsSIP.
- Maintain and optimize PBX services across Debian, CentOS, and Rocky Linux environments, including systemd, package management, and performance tuning.
- Manage routing, firewalls, NAT, and port forwarding for SIP/RTP traffic, including iptables/nftables and VoIP NAT traversal.
- Deploy and manage LXC and Docker containers, including Docker Compose and a Next.js front end from a monorepo.
- Provision and manage AWS infrastructure for PBX and Call Detail Record (CDR) pipelines, including EC2, S3, VPC/security groups, IAM, SQS, and SNS.
- Administer MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL databases for CDR and application data.
- Build and maintain event pipelines for media processing and CDR sharing using RabbitMQ or AWS SQS/SNS.
- Maintain Python-based CDR microservices that publish messages to SQS,



link recordings stored in S3, and notify stakeholders using boto3.
- Implement centralized log analysis, monitoring, and alerting using Loki, Grafana, or equivalent observability tools.
- Manage backup and restoration procedures, Git-based change control, and Ansible orchestration across the server farm.
- Design and maintain master-slave and high-availability architectures to support a 99.99% uptime target.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Proven hands-on production experience managing and operating Asterisk PBX infrastructure at scale.
- Solid understanding of ICE, WebRTC, SIP/TLS, and SRTP, with practical experience building or maintaining browser-based softphones using SIP.js or JsSIP.
- Significant hands-on production experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC/networking, SQS, and SNS.
- Strong experience deploying and operating LXC and Docker containers in production environments, beyond local development.
- Proficiency in scripting with Python, TypeScript, PHP, and Bash.
- Strong Linux administration skills across multiple distributions, along with knowledge of networking, firewalls, and NAT for VoIP.
- Experience with at least two of the following databases: MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with RabbitMQ or an equivalent message broker.
- Familiarity with Ansible or similar configuration-management tools, Git-based version control, and structured change-management practices.
- Experience designing or maintaining master-slave or high-availability architectures.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Good to Have

- Experience with Next.js or modern JavaScript front-end development.
- Familiarity with Grafana, Loki, or equivalent monitoring and observability platforms.
- Experience in telecom-related domains, such as contact centres, call recording, or compliance systems.
