SAP BTP Architect Lead - AI Architecture, Governance Innovation

We are seeking an experienced SAP BTP Architect Lead to define and lead the enterprise AI architecture strategy within the SAP ecosystem. This role will be responsible for establishing the AI framework, governance model, architecture standards, and technology roadmap that enable scalable, secure, compliant, and business-driven AI solutions across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate will serve as the strategic bridge between Enterprise Architecture, SAP Platform Engineering, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Legal, and Business Functions to ensure that AI capabilities are delivered responsibly while maximizing business value.

This leader will drive adoption of SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Joule, Generative AI, AI Agents, Process Automation, Integration Suite, and Data Analytics capabilities to accelerate business transformation.

Key Responsibilities

AI Strategy Architecture Leadership

- Define and maintain the enterprise AI architecture roadmap for SAP BTP and adjacent platforms.
- Establish reference architectures, reusable patterns, and technology standards for AI-enabled business solutions.
- Lead architecture decisions across SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, SAP Datasphere, SAP Joule, SAP Build, SAP Integration Suite, and AI services.
- Develop enterprise standards for AI Agents, Intelligent Automation, Machine Learning, and Generative AI solutions.
- Partner with business leaders to identify strategic AI opportunities and prioritize high-value use cases.

AI Governance Responsible AI

- Establish and operationalize an enterprise AI governance framework.
- Define policies, standards, controls, and approval processes for AI initiatives.
- Ensure alignment with security, privacy, legal, regulatory, and ethical AI requirements.




- Chair or participate in Architecture Review Boards (ARB) and AI Governance Councils.
- Create governance processes for AI lifecycle management, model monitoring, risk management, and compliance reviews.

SAP BTP Platform Leadership

- Define target-state SAP BTP architecture and platform strategy.
- Establish standards for:
- SAP Integration Suite
- SAP Build Process Automation
- SAP Build Apps
- SAP Build Work Zone
- SAP Datasphere
- SAP AI Core and AI Foundation
- SAP Joule and AI Agents
- Event Mesh and API Management

- Drive platform scalability, resiliency, security, and operational excellence.

Enterprise Integration Data Architecture

- Define integration standards between SAP and non-SAP platforms.
- Collaborate with Data Analytics teams to establish trusted data foundations for AI.
- Ensure data governance, master data consistency, and data quality standards.
- Promote reusable enterprise services, APIs, and event-driven architecture principles.

Innovation AI Enablement

- Evaluate emerging AI and SAP technologies.
- Lead proof-of-concepts and innovation initiatives.
- Develop enterprise AI adoption roadmaps and maturity models.
- Educate business and technology teams on AI capabilities and governance requirements.
- Drive AI literacy and responsible AI practices across the organization.

Vendor Partner Management

- Provide technical leadership for SAP, hyperscaler, and implementation partners.
- Evaluate vendor offerings, AI platforms, and architecture proposals.




- Establish technology guardrails and architectural governance for third-party solutions.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 12+ years of enterprise architecture, SAP architecture, or technology leadership experience.
- 7+ years of experience in SAP platforms and enterprise application architecture.
- 5+ years of experience with cloud-based integration, automation, and platform technologies.
- Proven experience designing and governing enterprise-scale technology platforms.
- Solid understanding of AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Intelligent Automation technologies.
- Experience leading architecture reviews, governance boards, and enterprise standards development.

- Microsoft Azure AI Services
- Microsoft Copilot ecosystem

- Knowledge of AI governance frameworks, NIST AI RMF, and Responsible AI principles.
- Experience establishing enterprise AI Centers of Excellence (CoE).
- SAP BTP Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect, or relevant cloud certifications.
