About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Owner who can be trusted with a client from the very first conversation.

Our Product Owners step in once the problem is identified and the high-level direction is set. You step in before that: working with client leadership to uncover what’s really going on, frame the right problem and set the direction. Then you own the product all the way through to a working release in users’ hands.

Alongside your own products, you’ll guide our Product Owners: reviewing their calls, raising their bar, and stepping in when a client needs a senior voice. This role is for someone who has done this under real delivery pressure. You’ll be the person others turn to when things get ambiguous.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead discovery with client stakeholders: understand the business context, uncover the real problem, and agree on success measures before anything is built.
- Set product direction and own the roadmap, turning business goals into a clear, sequenced plan that stays honest as things change.
- Own a larger client account or several products end to end, from solution definition to a live product users actually adopt.




- Make and defend hard prioritization calls, including telling a client “not now” when a request won’t serve their goals, without damaging the relationship.
- Be the senior point of contact for client leadership: run steering conversations, handle escalations, and raise risks early with options, not just problems.
- Shape solutions with engineering and design, weighing trade-offs to find what’s right for users, viable for the business and feasible to build.
- Define how success is measured: set the metrics, read delivery and usage data critically, and use them for go/no-go calls on releases and scale-up.
- Guide and review the work of our Product Owners, from backlog quality and decisions to client communication, and help them grow into senior roles.
- Support new engagements by shaping the first-phase scope, team mix and ramp-up plan alongside delivery and sales.
- Raise the bar on product practice across Mallow, including how we use AI tools for scoping, solutioning and rapid prototyping.

What We’re Looking For

- 5+ years of total experience, with at least 4 years as a Product Owner or Product Manager on software delivery projects.
- A track record of owning products from discovery through go-live and beyond,



ideally for external clients in a services or consulting setting.
- Direct experience with senior client stakeholders, including international clients, and with hard conversations on scope, timelines and priorities.
- Strong product judgement: comfortable with ambiguity and trade-offs, questions data instead of taking it at face value, and decides without perfect information.
- Experience guiding or mentoring Product Owners, Business Analysts or other product team members.
- Clear, concise communication, written and spoken, for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Deep working knowledge of Agile/Scrum, backlog management and release planning, with the judgement to adapt process to each engagement model.
- Hands-on with AI tools for scoping, solutioning and rapid prototyping, and able to show others how to use them well.

Nice to Have

- Pre-sales or solutioning experience, shaping scope and first-phase plans for recent clients.
- Experience with products that include AI or GenAI features.
- A product owner certification such as CSPO or PSPO.
