Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient General Manager Engineering to lead engineering design, technical solutions, tendering support, system integration, and customer technical coordination for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The role involves end-to-end ownership of engineering deliverables, technical proposal development, system sizing, design validation, customer approvals, and cross-functional coordination to ensure project compliance with technical specifications, applicable standards, and delivery timelines.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in BESS system architecture, battery packs, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), transformers, HVAC, fire protection, and associated electrical and control systems.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Engineering Leadership and System Design

- Lead engineering activities for BESS projects, including system architecture, technical design, engineering calculations, and design validation.
- Develop and review integrated BESS solutions covering battery systems, PCS/inverters, EMS, transformers, HVAC, fire protection, auxiliary systems, and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Perform system sizing, load calculations, energy capacity assessments, configuration optimization, and grid-code compliance evaluations.
- Review project specifications, identify technical gaps and deviations, and recommend suitable engineering solutions and mitigation measures.
- Ensure engineering designs comply with applicable IEC, IEEE, IS, CEA, and other relevant standards and project-specific requirements.

2. Technical Tendering and Solution Engineering

- Lead the preparation and review of technical proposals, tender submissions, technical offers, and customer-specific engineering solutions.
- Develop system architecture, technical specifications, compliance statements, equipment datasheets, control philosophies, and design assumptions.
- Evaluate technical requirements, identify scope gaps, assess project risks, and recommend technically and commercially viable alternatives.
- Coordinate with Sales, Business Development, Procurement, and Project Management teams to ensure technical feasibility, cost optimization, and alignment with customer expectations.
- Support techno-commercial discussions, tender clarifications, technical negotiations,



and customer presentations.

3. Engineering Documentation and Quality Control

- Oversee the preparation, review, approval, and submission of engineering documents, including:
- Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
- General Arrangement Drawings (GADs)
- System layouts and interface diagrams
- Cable schedules and electrical drawings
- Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
- Technical specifications and equipment datasheets
- Control philosophies and system architecture documents
- Compliance matrices and project-specific technical submissions

- Establish effective document control and revision management processes to ensure traceability and accuracy.
- Conduct internal technical reviews and ensure timely closure of engineering comments and deviations.
- Ensure technical documentation meets customer requirements, contractual obligations, and project schedules.

4. Customer Technical Coordination

- Serve as the primary technical interface for customers, consultants, EPC contractors, and other stakeholders following project award.
- Lead technical discussions, design reviews, solution presentations, and clarification meetings.
- Manage technical queries, customer comments, design revisions, and approval cycles.
- Secure timely customer approvals for drawings, datasheets, SLDs, GADs, and other engineering deliverables.
- Ensure clear communication of technical requirements, design assumptions, exclusions, and project interfaces.

5. Cross-Functional Coordination and Project Handover

- Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Controls, Safety, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams.
- Coordinate with suppliers and OEMs for technical clarifications, equipment selection, design validation, and interface management.
- Support procurement and supply chain teams in technical evaluations, vendor selection, and approval of technical submittals.
- Prepare structured engineering handover documents for project execution teams, covering approved designs, technical assumptions,



customer comments, pending approvals, and interface requirements.
- Provide engineering support during project execution, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning.

6. Process Improvement and Team Management

- Lead and mentor engineering teams, ensuring technical competency, accountability, and timely delivery of engineering outputs.
- Establish standard engineering practices, design templates, technical checklists, and review procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement in design quality, engineering productivity, standardization, and cost optimization.
- Monitor engineering schedules, deliverables, resource allocation, and project priorities.
- Identify technical risks proactively and implement corrective and preventive measures.

Educational Qualification and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Power Systems, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 12+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in BESS, renewable energy, power electronics, electrical systems, or EPC project environments.
- Demonstrated experience in BESS system design, engineering documentation, technical tendering, customer coordination, and project engineering.
- Experience in leading engineering teams and managing multiple project deliverables.
- Exposure to grid-connected BESS projects, utility-scale energy storage, renewable energy integration, or industrial power systems is preferred.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong understanding of BESS architecture, battery packs, PCS/inverters, EMS,transformers, HVAC, fire protection, and auxiliary systems.
