Role & responsibilities

PreferThe SPS Customer Training Instructor is responsible for developing and delivering custom, project-specific Subsea Production & Control Systems training to external client Operations & Project Teams. Courses are developed and executed utilizing PowerPoint presentations, demonstrations with OneSubsea equipment, and simulations using OneSubsea control system software. Typical audiences include, but are not limited to, client Subsea Engineers, Platform Control Room Operators (CRO), Production Supervisors, Offshore Installation Managers (OIM), and Maintenance personnel.

Primary Purpose of Position

Demonstrates mastery of skills and extensive subject matter knowledge in carrying out assignments associated with the analysis, design, development, execution, evaluation, and modification of project-specific Subsea Production and Production Control Systems operations training packages for external OneSubsea clients.

Training Design and Development Work

•Develops project-specific presentations, small group exercises, and problem-solving cases using project documentation and inputs from OneSubsea project engineers and customer SMEs

•Develops project-specific field operations simulation cases using OneSubsea Master Control Station simulators, customer inputs, and customer field operations procedures

•Develops course exams that adequately and fairly challenge the expected knowledge acquired from the courses

•Conducts periodic lesson development reviews with the client

Training Execution Work

•Leads highly technical, complex classroom lectures, small group seminars, and field operations simulations that are specific to client systems and audience needs in classroom settings at mostly international locations





•Develops After Action Training Reports (AATR) upon completion of Training Packages, and coordinates these reports with the clients' operations team; feeds all lessons learned back to training design components for future course improvements

Education/Work Experience (Minimum job quals)

•BS in Engineering and 4+ years experience working with complex systems (preferably Offshore Oil & Gas, Aviation, Power Generation, Military), or 8+ years’ experience working with complex systems

Preferred Skills/Knowledge

•Broad-based theoretical and practical working knowledge of mechanical, power, and communication network systems and integrated systems designs and operating concepts

•Strong knowledge of industrial control systems: hydraulic, electrical, SCADA (including HMI, supervisory software, PLCs, networks, sensors, and actuators)

•Knowledge of subsea tree and manifold systems (architectures, valve & instrument functionalities)

•Ability to read and interpret project diagrams & schematics related to these systems

•Intermediate PowerPoint proficiency (e.g., integrating equipment visuals, using text & graphics transitions/animations effectively, and organizing content clearly)

•Experience working in simulation environments for course development (and ideally, for live training delivery)

•Effective presentation and communication skills: confident delivery, audience engagement, clarity in simplifying complex topics, and adaptability

Work Environment

•Primarily works in an office workplace

•Leads classroom training in mostly international locations to client groups of between 5 and 20 students

•Travels primarily to international project locations; typical course durations are 5-days with multiple course offerings possible
