Company: Growing B2B Marketplace Startup
Job Location: Delhi
Job Type: Full-time
Department: Human Resources
About the Role
We are a growing B2B marketplace startup in the process of building our business, technology platform and core team. We are looking for a hands-on, proactive and people-oriented HR Manager to build and manage the HR function as the organisation scales.
The role will involve end-to-end recruitment across technology, product, marketing, sales, operations and other business functions, along with payroll coordination, HR operations, policy development, employee engagement and culture building.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a startup environment, can take ownership, work closely with the founders and functional leaders, and build practical HR processes from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
1. Talent Acquisition & Recruitment
- Drive end-to-end recruitment across technology, product management, marketing, sales, business development, operations, finance and other functions.
- Understand manpower requirements and hiring priorities in consultation with founders and functional heads.
- Prepare job descriptions, source candidates through Naukri, LinkedIn, employee referrals, recruitment consultants and other channels.
- Screen profiles, conduct initial HR interviews, coordinate technical and functional interviews, and manage the selection process.
- Manage offer rollouts, salary negotiations, candidate communication, joining formalities and onboarding.
- Build a robust talent pipeline and ensure timely closure of critical positions.
2. HR Operations & Payroll Coordination
- Coordinate monthly payroll processing in collaboration with the finance team or payroll partners, ensuring accurate and timely salary disbursement.
- Maintain employee records, attendance, leave balances, employee documentation and HR databases.
- Manage joining and exit formalities, employee confirmations, full-and-final settlements and exit interviews.
- Coordinate employee benefits, reimbursements, insurance and other HR-related administration.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling employee and payroll information.
3. HR Policies, Processes & Compliance
- Develop, implement and periodically review HR policies, employee handbooks, SOPs and internal processes.
- Establish structured processes for recruitment, onboarding, probation, performance reviews, leave management, employee grievances and separation.
- Coordinate with finance, payroll providers and external consultants to ensure applicable labour law, statutory and employment compliance.
- Maintain appropriate HR documentation and support compliance with applicable employment regulations.
4. Employee Engagement & Culture Building
- Develop initiatives to improve employee engagement, motivation, collaboration and retention.
- Build a positive, inclusive and performance-oriented workplace culture.
- Organise employee engagement activities, team events, celebrations, recognition programmes and internal communication initiatives.
- Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and help address workplace concerns and grievances.
- Promote a culture of accountability, ownership, transparency and continuous learning.
5. Performance Management & Organisation Development
- Support the design and implementation of performance appraisal, goal-setting and feedback processes.
- Work with functional heads to identify training needs, capability gaps and development opportunities.
- Help establish clear roles,
reporting structures and manpower plans as the organisation grows.
- Track key HR metrics such as hiring turnaround time, offer-to-joining ratio, attrition, employee costs and retention.
Desired Candidate Profile
- MBA/PGDM in Human Resources or a relevant qualification.
- Approximately 24 years of relevant HR experience, preferably in a startup, technology company, e-commerce business, B2B organisation or fast-growing SME.
- Strong hands-on experience in end-to-end recruitment across multiple functions, particularly technology, product, sales and business operations.
- Working knowledge of payroll coordination, HR operations, employment documentation and statutory compliance.
- Experience in creating HR policies, processes and employee engagement initiatives.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a dynamic setting.
- Proficiency in MS Excel/Google Sheets and familiarity with HRMS, recruitment portals and payroll systems.
What We Are Looking For
- A self-starter who can build processes rather than simply follow existing ones.
- Someone comfortable operating in a lean, fast-paced startup environment.
- A practical problem-solver with a strong sense of ownership and execution.
- A people-oriented professional who can balance employee welfare with business requirements.
- Someone who can partner effectively with founders and business leaders while remaining approachable to employees.
Why Join Us?
- Opportunity to build the HR function from the ground up.
- Direct interaction with the founders and leadership team.
- Exposure to multiple business functions in a growing B2B marketplace.
- Opportunity to shape hiring practices, employee policies and organisational culture.
- A role with meaningful ownership and scope to grow alongside the business.
