Role Overview

We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to build and operate the services and user experiences behind data-driven dashboards. The role involves developing Java Spring backend services and modernizing frontend applications from AngularJS to React, using Chart.js for most visualizations and D3 for selected use cases.

The ideal candidate will take ownership of features end to end, from API development and responsive interfaces to automated testing and production issue resolution, while working under the clients technical lead.

Key Responsibilities

1. Backend Development

- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java Spring backend services and web APIs.
- Implement APIs, data access, validation, and error handling.
- Work with relational databases, including MySQL, and search-backed analytics.
- Build reliable services that support data-driven dashboards and reporting experiences.

2. Frontend Development and Modernization

- Build responsive user interfaces using React and JavaScript.
- Progressively modernize existing AngularJS functionality to React.
- Integrate frontend components with backend APIs and handle asynchronous data, validation, and error states.
- Develop reusable components and maintainable user experiences.

3. Data Visualization and Dashboards

- Develop data visualizations using Chart.js.
- Select appropriate chart types and interactions to communicate data clearly.
- Use D3 for specialized and interactive visualization requirements where appropriate.
- Build dashboard features that support clear data presentation and usability.

4. Testing and Quality Assurance

- Develop and maintain automated tests for frontend and backend components.




- Use Jest and React Testing Library for frontend testing.
- Use JUnit and Mockito for Java service testing.
- Diagnose defects across the application stack and ensure changes are tested safely within an established codebase.

5. Production Support and Collaboration

- Investigate and resolve production issues across frontend and backend services.
- Participate in code reviews and follow established engineering practices.
- Clarify requirements, communicate technical trade-offs, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders.
- Own features through design, implementation, testing, and production support under the clients technical lead.

Required Technical Skills Competencies

- Production experience developing web applications.
- Solid expertise in at least one side of the stack, with the ability to contribute across both backend and frontend.
- Backend: Java, Spring, HTTP/REST APIs, SQL, and relational databases, particularly MySQL.
- Frontend: JavaScript, React, Node.js/npm, and component-based UI development.
- Experience integrating frontend applications with APIs, including asynchronous data handling, validation, and error states.
- Experience with automated testing using Jest, React Testing Library, JUnit, and Mockito.
- Ability to make safe changes in established codebases.
- Clear communication skills for requirements clarification and technical trade-off discussions.

Must-Have Skills

- Production web application development experience.




- Strong skills in Java and Spring or modern frontend development with JavaScript and React, with the ability to work across the stack.
- Experience with HTTP/REST APIs and frontend-backend integration.
- SQL and relational database knowledge, preferably MySQL.
- Experience handling asynchronous data, validation, and error states.
- Automated testing experience using relevant frontend and backend testing frameworks.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Good to Have Skills

- AngularJS and experience modernizing legacy applications to React.
- React component libraries and shared design systems.
- Chart.js and interactive data visualization.
- Familiarity with D3.
- Apache Solr or similar search technologies.
- Maven.
- Exposure to Python, MongoDB, SQL Server, message queues, or cloud storage.
- Experience with dashboards, reporting, alerting, or healthcare data.
- Knowledge of accessible, responsive, and cross-browser interface development.
