Job Title: Architectural / Design Coordinator
Location: Pune, Maharashtra
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience: 2 to 4 Years
Industry: Civil Contracting / Construction Management / Design-Build
Job Overview
We are looking for a detail-driven Design Coordinator / Architectural CAD Coordinator with 2 to 4 years of experience to bridge the gap between our external design consultants and site execution teams.
In this role, you will not be designing or drafting GFC packages from scratch. Complete architectural and structural designs are provided by external consultants. Your primary responsibility is drawing management, review, interdisciplinary overlay (clash detection), and technical coordination. You will verify external drawings for buildability, prepare composite coordination drawings/site markups, manage RFIs, and ensure the site team always executes from the correct, clash-free revisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Drawing Review & Discrepancy Checking:
- Review all incoming drawings from external architects, structural engineers, and MEP consultants immediately upon receipt.
- Cross-verify architectural vs. structural layouts (grid alignments, column/beam projections, floor cutouts, sunken slab levels, sill/lintel heights).
- Flag design discrepancies, omissions, or constructability issues early before work begins on site.
- Composite Drafting & Clash Coordination:
- Prepare combined overlay / composite CAD drawings by superimposing external architectural, structural, and MEP layouts to identify and resolve clashes.
- Draft site-specific sketches, coordination markups, and simplified execution layouts to assist site supervisors and sub-contractors.
- Update drawings with site redlines to maintain accurate As-Built drawings as the project progresses.
- Consultant & Site Coordination (RFI Management):
- Act as the technical liaison between external consultants and the site execution team.
- Collate technical queries from site engineers and project managers, raise formal RFIs (Requests for Information) to external consultants, and track them to resolution.
- Attend technical coordination meetings with external architects and consultants to close out site-level coordination bottlenecks.
- Document Control & Revision Management:
- Maintain and update the project Drawing Register (tracking receipt dates, revision numbers R0, R1, R2..., and distribution logs).
- Ensure obsolete drawing versions are marked superseded and removed from circulation so site teams never work off outdated revisions.
- Assist the billing and estimation team by cross-checking drawing changes against previous revisions to identify quantity variations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Diploma in Civil Engineering / D.Arch / B.Arch / B.E. (Civil).
- Experience: 2 to 4 years in a civil contracting firm, project management consultancy (PMC), or design-build setup handling drawing coordination and CAD review.
- Technical Software Skills:
- AutoCAD (2D): Advanced skills in layering, Xrefs (external references), scale adjustments, viewports, dimensioning, and overlaying multi-consultant files.
- Revit / Navisworks / BIM (Desirable): Basic model viewing, section checking, or clash checking is an advantage.
- MS Excel & Office: Proficient in tracking registers, revision logs, and preparing transmittals/RFIs.
- Competencies:
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and cross-reference complex architectural, structural, and services drawings rapidly.
- Practical understanding of on-site construction sequences and civil tolerances.
- Transparent communication skills in English and Hindi (Marathi is beneficial for day-to-day site team interactions).
