Sr Engineer - IQA

Core Roles & Responsibilities

1. Incoming Material Inspection & Testing

- Supervise and perform inspection, sampling, and testing of incoming materials (raw materials, components, subassemblies).

- Ensure materials meet specifications, drawings, and quality standards.

- Develop and update inspection criteria, checklists, and work instructions.

2. Supplier Quality Management

- Evaluate and qualify new suppliers from a quality perspective.

- Conduct audits at supplier sites and work with suppliers on corrective/preventive actions.

- Monitor supplier performance through metrics like PPM (parts per million), NCRs, and delivery issues.

3. Non-Conformance Handling

- Lead the investigation of non-conforming materials and components.

- Raise NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), segregate defective materials, and initiate root cause analysis.

- Ensure timely implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

4. Documentation & Quality Records

- Maintain accurate records of incoming inspections, NCRs, and supplier quality issues.

- Prepare IQA reports and present data for management review and audits.

- Ensure compliance with ISO, IATF, or other relevant quality standards.

Continuous Improvement

- Drive process improvement projects to enhance IQA efficiency and reduce incoming defects.

- Apply tools like 5 Why, Fishbone, FMEA, and SPC to analyze and improve processes.

- Work cross-functionally with Procurement, R&D;, and Manufacturing to improve material quality.

6. Calibration & Equipment Management

- Ensure all inspection tools and gauges are calibrated and properly maintained.

- Implement Gage R&R; studies to verify measurement system accuracy.

7. Team Mentoring and Leadership

- Guide and mentor junior QA engineers or inspectors.

- Train the IQA team on recent inspection techniques, standards, or systems.

? Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.;

- Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or relevant quality systems.

- Hands-on experience with measurement tools: Vernier, CMM, hardness tester, etc.

- Proficient in root cause analysis and quality tools (8D, PDCA, 5 Why, etc.).

- Effective communication skills for interfacing with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
