Role overview The Senior Server Engineer manages our physical and virtual servers and perimeter firewalls, keeping them available, patched and secure, and serves as the escalation point for server and firewall issues.

Key responsibilities

- Install, configure and maintain Dell/HPE servers, including iDRAC/iLO, RAID and firmware updates.
- Administer Windows Server (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO) and Red Hat/Linux environments.
- Manage VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V clusters: provisioning, HA/DRS and capacity planning.
- Configure and maintain SonicWall/Fortinet firewalls: rules, NAT, VPN, UTM and log review.
- Manage backup, storage and disaster recovery, with regular restore testing.
- Patch, harden and monitor servers; support security audits.
- Act as L2/L3 escalation, mentor junior engineers and maintain documentation.

Required qualifications

- Education:



B.E./B.Tech or MCA in Computer Science, Information Technology or Electronics.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a Server Engineer in a production workplace.
- Firewall certification (mandatory): SonicWall SNSA (SonicWall Network Security Administrator) / Fortinet NSE (Network Security Expert) or an equivalent firewall administration certification. Applications without this certification will not be considered.

Technical skills

- Servers and OS: Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, Windows Server, RHEL
- Virtualization: VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V
- Firewalls: SonicWall, Fortinet FortiGate
- Networking and storage: TCP/IP, VLANs, SAN/NAS, Veeam or equivalent
- Scripting and monitoring: PowerShell, Bash; PRTG, Zabbix or similar

Preferred qualifications and soft skills

- Additional server/platform certifications, ITIL Foundation or Azure/AWS exposure.
- Strong troubleshooting, clear communication and ownership through to closure.
- Willingness to support after-hours maintenance and on-call duty.
