We are currently hiring for a Senior PHP Developer (CodeIgniter) position on behalf of one of our clients.

Role Description This is a full-time, in office Senior PHP Developer (CodeIgniter) role based in Noida. The Senior PHP Developer will design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end solutions using PHP and the CodeIgniter framework, ensuring secure, high-performance applications. Day-to-day responsibilities include translating business requirements into technical specifications, implementing RESTful APIs, integrating third-party services, and working closely with front-end developers to deliver cohesive, user-focused products.

The role involves reviewing and optimizing existing code, enforcing coding standards, performing debugging and performance tuning, and contributing to architectural decisions. The developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in code reviews, mentor junior developers, and support deployment activities in alignment with best practices for reliability and maintainability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Develop and maintain backend applications and REST APIs using PHP and CodeIgniter.




- Design effective MySQL databases and optimise complex queries.
- Implement Redis caching, queues, background jobs, and retry mechanisms.
- Integrate third-party APIs and payment gateways.
- Implement secure authentication, authorisation, and transaction handling.
- Manage deployments, troubleshoot production issues, and improve system performance.
- Communicate directly with clients to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Take ownership of projects from development through production deployment.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to technical decisions.

MUST HAVE SKILLS

- Strong PHP and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) fundamentals.
- Practical knowledge of SOLID principles, design patterns, interfaces, traits, and namespaces.
- Strong expertise in CodeIgniter MVC architecture, routing, controllers, models, filters, and hooks.
- Advanced MySQL skills, including joins, subqueries, indexing, query optimisation, and transaction management.
- Hands-on Redis experience covering caching, queues, workers, TTL, and cache invalidation.
- Experience with REST APIs, third-party integrations, payment webhooks, retries, and error handling.
- Knowledge of database transactions, concurrency, and preventing duplicate or inconsistent operations.
- Understanding of application security, including SQL injection, XSS, and CSRF prevention.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployments, database migrations, and production troubleshooting.

GOOD TO HAVE SKILLS

- AWS, including S3 and pre-signed URLs.
- Docker and Laravel.
- CodeIgniter 4 and migration from CodeIgniter 3.
- PHPUnit and automated testing.
- Experience with e-commerce, inventory management, or payment-intensive applications.
