About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Mechanical CAD Expert (Subject Matter Expert) to handle a wide range of complex mechanical drawings—including single parts, assemblies, and intricate castings (such as flywheel housings, pump/valve bodies, and covers).

In this hands-on expert role, you will take on our most demanding 3D modeling and detailing tasks, collaborating closely with senior engineering reviewers. This engagement begins during a Proof of Concept (PoC) phase, with strong potential for successful contractors to transition into permanent, full-time positions as our Design Hub expands.

Key Responsibilities

- 2D to 3D Conversion: Build highly accurate 3D models in SOLIDWORKS from complex 2D customer drawings, covering single parts, castings, and full assemblies.
- Complex Casting Modeling: Model cast parts incorporating draft angles, parting lines, fillets/rounds, ribs, bosses, and internal cored passages. Model both as-cast and finished machined parts with accurate machining allowances.
- Assemblies & Detailing: Break down 3D assembly models into individual components and generate precise 2D part drawings.
- Drawing Interpretation: Accurately interpret intricate mechanical drawings featuring multiple sections, partial views, and auxiliary views.
- Quality & Standards Compliance: Follow strict international/regional drafting conventions (such as JIS standards) and integrate feedback from senior technical reviewers.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Record time metrics, bottlenecks,



and research notes for every drawing to help build standard operating procedures and mentor team members.
- Work Estimation: Evaluate incoming drawings and accurately estimate required modeling hours.

Candidate Requirements

- Experience: Open to experts regardless of years of experience; selection is strictly based on demonstrated output and technical capability.
- Core Software Skills: Advanced SOLIDWORKS modeling skills (Parts, Assemblies, Drawings) backed by a strong portfolio of previous work.

- Technical Expertise:
- Proven experience turning 3D assemblies into accurate 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Proficiency in modeling complex castings using advanced features (draft, shell, multi-body parts, lofts, sweeps, and surface modeling).
- Solid understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes (machining, casting) and how they influence component geometry.
- Reading Technical Drawings: Flawless ability to read 2D technical drawings, geometric tolerances, surface finish symbols, and machining notes.
- Communication: Basic proficiency in written English for seamless collaboration with cross-border team members.

Nice-to-Have Skills

- Prior experience working in a foundry, pattern shop, or casting design team.
- Familiarity with Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) or prior experience handling projects for Japanese manufacturers.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;).
- Experience leveraging AI productivity tools in daily workflows.

Work Environment & Security Due to the confidential nature of the design data handled, strict security protocols apply, including mandatory non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), restrictions on personal electronic devices in the work area, and monitored workstations.
