ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Design Engineer with 8+ years of experience in textile machinery design, particularly textile flat-bed machines, rotary printing machines, and industrial equipment design.

The candidate must have solid hands-on expertise in Siemens Solid Edge 2024, 3D modeling, complex machine assembly design, detailed manufacturing drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) preparation.

The role involves independently handling machine design and development from concept to manufacturing, optimizing existing designs, resolving production issues, and coordinating with manufacturing, fabrication, machining, assembly, procurement, and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities

Textile Flat-Bed & Rotary Printing Machine Design

· Design and develop textile flat-bed printing machines and rotary textile printing machines.

· Design machine frames, structures, printing assemblies, roller arrangements, drive mechanisms, supports, and associated mechanical components.

· Develop mechanical systems for roller mounting, transmission, alignment, tension control, and material handling, as applicable to the machine configuration.

· Design and develop rotary printing machine assemblies, including printing rollers, drive systems, bearings, gearboxes, shafts, and associated mechanisms.

· Understand machine operating principles, printing processes, customer requirements, and production specifications.

· Improve existing machine designs for performance, accuracy, reliability, maintainability, and manufacturing feasibility.

Industrial Equipment & Mechanical Design

· Design special-purpose machinery, auxiliary equipment, mechanical fixtures, jigs, and tooling.

· Develop complete machine layouts, subassemblies, and detailed component designs.

· Select appropriate materials, bearings, motors, gearboxes, linear guides, pneumatic components, and standard mechanical parts.

· Perform mechanical calculations and evaluate strength, rigidity, clearances, tolerances, and alignment requirements.

· Apply design-for-manufacturing (DFM)



and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles.

Siemens Solid Edge 2024

· Independently develop 3D parts, complex assemblies, and 2D drawings using Siemens Solid Edge 2024.

· Prepare machine layouts, assembly structures, exploded views, and detailed component drawings.

· Manage CAD models, drawing revisions, design modifications, and engineering documentation.

· Use relevant sheet metal, weldment, and assembly design capabilities.

· Maintain standardized CAD files, part numbering, and revision-controlled documentation.

Manufacturing & Production Drawings

· Prepare complete manufacturing drawings for machining, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, and assembly.

· Specify dimensions, tolerances, fits, GD&T;, surface finish, materials, and finishing requirements.

· Prepare general arrangement (GA), assembly, installation, and exploded-view drawings.

· Ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing, inspection, assembly, and maintenance.

· Resolve drawing-related issues and provide technical support to production and assembly teams.

BOM Preparation & Engineering Documentation

· Prepare complete and accurate BOMs for flat-bed machines, rotary printing machines, subassemblies, and auxiliary equipment.

· Generate structured BOMs containing item numbers, part numbers, descriptions, quantities, materials, and specifications.

· Identify fabricated parts, machined components, standard parts, and bought-out items.

· Coordinate with procurement, stores, and production teams for component requirements.

· Maintain drawing registers, revision history, engineering change records, and technical documentation.

Manufacturing & Project Coordination

· Coordinate with machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, quality, procurement, and electrical teams.

· Support prototype development, machine assembly, testing, performance trials, and commissioning.

· Troubleshoot mechanical design issues and implement corrective actions.

· Optimize machine design for cost, manufacturability, reliability, and ease of maintenance.

· Guide junior design engineers and review drawings, CAD models, and BOMs.

Key Deliverables

· Complete 3D machine models and assemblies in Solid Edge 2024

· Flat-bed and rotary printing machine layouts and assembly drawings

· Detailed machining, fabrication, welding,



and sheet metal drawings

· Structured machine and subassembly BOMs

· Material specifications and standard component lists

· Revision-controlled engineering documentation

· Accuracy and completeness of machine designs, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs

· Reduction in manufacturing errors, assembly issues, and design rework

· Improvement in machine performance, reliability, and production efficiency

· Effective technical support to manufacturing and commissioning teams

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications & Skills

· B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with substantial relevant design experience

· Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical design and machinery development

· Mandatory hands-on experience with Siemens Solid Edge 2024

· Strong experience in textile flat-bed machine and rotary printing machine design

· Excellent knowledge of machine design, mechanical assemblies, shafts, bearings, gears, rollers, and drive mechanisms

· Expertise in 3D modeling, assembly modeling, and 2D manufacturing drawings

· Strong knowledge of machining, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, fits, tolerances, and GD&T;

· Proven experience in BOM preparation and engineering documentation

· Ability to independently manage design projects from concept through manufacturing release

Preferred Experience

· Direct experience in textile rotary printing machine design and development

· Experience with rotary printing assemblies, roller drive systems, alignment mechanisms, and textile material handling

· Experience in textile printing machinery manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning

· Exposure to design standardization, cost reduction, and engineering change management

Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will be a hands-on mechanical design professional with extensive experience in textile flat-bed and rotary printing machinery, capable of independently developing machine designs, preparing production-ready drawings and BOMs in Solid Edge 2024, and supporting manufacturing through final machine assembly and commissioning.
