Role & responsibilities

We are looking for a Purchase Executive / Purchase Officer to join our team at our corporate office in Alwarpet, Chennai.

The candidate will be responsible for handling day-to-day purchase and procurement activities, coordinating with suppliers, obtaining quotations, negotiating prices, and ensuring timely availability of materials.

Key Responsibilities

- Handle day-to-day purchase and procurement activities.
- Identify and develop reliable vendors and suppliers.
- Obtain and compare quotations from multiple suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules and other commercial terms.
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs).
- Follow up with suppliers for timely delivery of materials.
- Coordinate with stores, production, accounts and other departments regarding material requirements.
- Track pending POs, deliveries and material shortages.
- Maintain proper purchase records, quotations and vendor details.
- Monitor purchase prices and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Handle procurement of raw materials, packing materials, consumables and other office/factory requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding quality issues, shortages, damages and replacements.
- Ensure purchases are made as per approved specifications and requirements.





Desired Candidate Profile
- 25 years of experience in Purchase / Procurement, preferably in a manufacturing company.
- Experience in paints, construction chemicals, building materials, FMCG, chemicals or related manufacturing industries will be an advantage.
- Positive knowledge of vendor management and price negotiation.
- Good communication and follow-up skills.
- Should be comfortable working with Excel / MS Office.
- Knowledge of ERP / accounting software is an added advantage.
- Should be organized, responsible and capable of handling multiple purchase requirements simultaneously.
- Immediate joiners / candidates with short notice period preferred.
