Role Summary The Product Manager will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our product portfolio: understanding customer needs, defining the range and specifications, managing pricing and margins, and working with sales, procurement and production to grow profitable revenue. This is a commercial, hands-on role that sits between the market, the plant and the sales team.
Key ResponsibilitiesPortfolio and Product Strategy
- Own the product roadmap and P&L; for industrial rags, cotton yarn and FRP products.
- Identify new product opportunities, grades, counts, sizes and applications based on customer and market needs.
- Rationalise the SKU range: drop low-margin items, and expand high-demand and high-margin ones.
- Define transparent specifications, grading standards and quality parameters for each product.
Market and Customer Insight
- Track demand, pricing trends and competitor activity across segments and regions.
- Monitor raw material trends (cotton, waste and cut-piece supply, yarn prices, resins, glass fibre and related inputs) and their impact on costs and margins.
- Meet key customers and distributors regularly to gather feedback and identify unmet needs.
- Evaluate new end-use segments and export markets.
Pricing and Margin Management
- Set and review pricing, discount structures and price lists in line with cost movements and market conditions.
- Build cost sheets and margin analyses by product, customer segment and channel.
- Support the sales team with quotations, tenders and key account negotiations.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work with the production team on capacity planning, product quality, yield and turnaround times.
- Work with procurement on sourcing strategy, vendor evaluation and inventory planning.
- Work with sales and marketing on product positioning, catalogues, samples, technical datasheets and launch plans.
- Coordinate with quality and compliance teams on testing, certifications and customer audits.
Go-to-Market and Performance
- Develop sales collateral, product literature and training for the sales team.
- Define KPIs (volume, revenue, gross margin, repeat orders, customer retention) and report on them monthly.
- Support participation in trade fairs, exhibitions and buyer meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Textile, Polymer, Chemical, Mechanical or Production preferred), Science or Commerce.
- 2-4 years of experience in product management, business development or category management in textiles, yarn, industrial consumables, composites or a related manufacturing sector.
- Working knowledge of at least one of: cotton yarn and spinning, textile waste and recycling, or FRP/GRP and composite materials.
- Experience dealing with B2B customers, distributors and exporters.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong commercial and analytical skills, including costing, pricing and margin analysis.
- Ability to read technical specifications and translate customer requirements into product definitions.
- Good negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
- Comfortable with Excel and reporting tools; familiarity with ERP or CRM systems is a plus.
- Self-driven, organised and able to manage multiple product lines at once.
- Willingness to travel to plants, customer sites and trade events.
Key Performance Indicators
- Revenue and gross margin growth by product line
- Recent product or grade launches and new customer segments opened
- Pricing realisation and cost-to-price management
- Customer retention and repeat order rate
- Reduction in slow-moving inventory and SKU complexity
