Amplework is hiring a PLC/HMI Automation Engineer to join our Jaipur team. You’ll own the control software for water and wastewater treatment plants, from the first read of the drawings to a running plant. Your first project is a greenfield water treatment plant built on Allen-Bradley CompactLogix, programmed from scratch in Studio 5000, with hydraulic valves as part of the plant control. After that, you’ll lead PLC and HMI work on new plants and upgrades.

What we value most: independence

You’ll typically start with electrical schematics, a P&ID; and a short functional description, not a line-by-line spec or a cause-and-effect matrix. We need someone who can read the drawings, work out the I/O and process logic, check assumptions in a short discussion with the process engineers, and get coding. Questions along the way are normal; we don't wait for a complete specification before starting.

What you’ll do

1. Program Allen-Bradley CompactLogix PLCs in Studio 5000 from scratch
2. Develop operator HMI screens for plant monitoring and control
3. Build I/O lists and control logic directly from schematics and P&IDs;
4. Write mainly in ladder logic, using structured text only for complex maths routines
5. Coordinate with process engineers on process questions.
6. Deliver clean, well-commented, well-structured code that others can maintain
7. Prioritise core plant control first, then add analytics and reporting features
8. Support FAT; site commissioning is not required, but troubleshooting is required as needed

Coding standard





Our clients require programs that their own engineers can debug and maintain. That means ladder logic first. Programs written mostly in structured text will not meet our standard.

Must have

- 2+ years of hands-on process control experience in water or wastewater treatment
- Strong, current experience with Allen-Bradley CompactLogix PLCs and HMIs
- Confident in Studio 5000
- Fluent in ladder logic
- Experience programming, commissioning and troubleshooting PLC/HMI systems
- Able to read electrical schematics and P&IDs;
- A track record of working independently from drawings and a light brief

Nice to have

- Greenfield water or wastewater plant projects delivered without a full functional description
- Experience creating your own I/O lists or cause and effect tables from a P&ID;
- Positive habits for structuring and commenting code for handover
- Experience with hydraulic valve control
- Willingness to travel to project sites when needed
- Can join within 30 days
