Role Description: Open to journalism interns to join Startup Byline as research and report on startup-related developments, including funding rounds, organizational changes, product launches, layoffs, and emerging ventures with little to no PR presence. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring news feeds and social channels, interviewing founders and employees, verifying facts and sources, and producing timely, accurate, and engaging articles under tight deadlines. The role involves crafting clear headlines, writing concise news pieces and deeper features, collaborating with editors on story angles, and adapting coverage to the publication’s voice and standards.





The Intern will also contribute ideas for new story leads, maintain ethical reporting practices, and stay up to date on global startup and tech trends.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess solid skills in News Writing and Journalism, with experience in reporting, story development, and working to deadlines.
- Candidates should possess effective Writing and Communication skills, including clear, concise prose and the ability to explain complex topics to a broad audience.
- Candidates should possess familiarity with Press Releases and media materials, with the ability to critically evaluate and go beyond promotional narratives.
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree or diploma in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, or a related field are beneficial.
- Additional beneficial skills include investigative research, interviewing, fact-checking, basic digital publishing tools, and an understanding of the startup and tech ecosystem.
- Ability to work remotely collaborate with an editorial team, and maintain high ethical standards in reporting.
