: Lab Technician – Pathology

Designation: Lab Technician

Location: VPS Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience: 1–2 years preferred

Key Responsibilities

- Collect, receive, label, and process patient specimens, including blood, urine, and other biological samples.
- Perform routine pathology investigations, including hematology, clinical pathology, and related laboratory tests.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Prepare reagents, stains, and laboratory materials as required.
- Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, and disposal according to established protocols.
- Perform internal quality control procedures and maintain accurate quality control records.
- Follow infection control practices, biosafety guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain laboratory registers, test records, and documentation as per hospital policies and NABH requirements.
- Identify and report abnormal results, technical errors,



or equipment malfunctions to the concerned supervisor.
- Coordinate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate test results.
- Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the laboratory.

Educational Qualification
- DMLT or B.Sc. MLT from a recognized institution.

Required Skills
- Knowledge of routine pathology laboratory procedures.
- Ability to handle biological specimens safely and accurately.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and quality control procedures.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of infection control and biomedical waste management.
- Positive communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.

Preferred Experience
- 1–2 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory
