About the Role
We’re hiring L3 Protocol Developers to design, build and debug control-plane features for LTE and 5G NR RAN products. You’ll work on real-world eNodeB/gNodeB software across vRAN, O-RAN and custom deployments, tackling everything from call-flow design to field issue resolution.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in RAN Layer 3 protocols: RRC and PDCP
- Proficiency in C++ (C/Python is a plus)
- Solid understanding of 3GPP specifications
- Background in Telecom / Wireless (4G/LTE/5G)
Valuable to Have
- Google Test Framework (GTF)
- S1AP, X2AP, NGAP, F1AP, E1AP, XnAP interfaces
- 4G/5G L3 procedures: attach, handover, re-establishment, carrier aggregation, EN-DC/NR-DC, paging, idle/connected transitions, RLF handling
- ASN.1 encoding/decoding, state machine design, timer and error handling
- L3 data path: GTP-U, DPDK, VPP
- Linux, IPC,
multithreading; Docker and Kubernetes
- Log and trace analysis using Wireshark, QCAT, Viavi, IxLoad, IxNetwork or Spirent Landslide
- Exposure to SR-IOV, hugepages, SmartNIC/DPU or FPGA acceleration for virtualized DU/CU
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement RRC and control-plane features (S1AP/X2AP/NGAP/F1AP/E1AP/XnAP) for LTE and NR
- Debug and fix issues such as attach/registration failures, handover drops, security-mode failures, RRC resume issues and paging misses
- Resolve multi-vendor interoperability issues across UEs, chipsets and core networks
- Analyse field logs and traces, and reproduce issues in the lab
- Work with verification, OAM and core-network teams on call-flow validation, stress and negative testing
- Senior candidates: mentor team members and interact with internal and external stakeholders
