: General Manager

Experience: 15 to 20+ years in manufacturing, with at least 7 years in senior leadership

Role Summary The General Manager leads the entire factory and business, owning production, quality, supply chain, sales delivery, costs, people and compliance. The role is hands-on and combines shop-floor presence with business and customer leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy: Prepare the annual plan, budget and capex, and track company and departmental KPIs.

Production: Deliver output, on-time dispatch and productivity across machining, fabrication, assembly and testing, using lean, 5S and TPM.

Quality: Own the QMS (ISO 9001, BIS/IS standards) and bring down rejections and customer complaints through root cause analysis and CAPA.

Maintenance and Engineering: Ensure preventive maintenance, tooling readiness and design improvements that cut cost and downtime.

Purchase and Stores: Source materials at the right cost and quality, and manage vendors and inventory.

Sales and Customers: Work with sales to convert orders, manage key customers and dealers, and ensure delivery and after-sales support.

Finance: Control product costing, margins, working capital and budgets, and support banks,



auditors and GST/TDS compliance.

People: Build a strong second line of leaders, drive hiring, training and appraisals with HR, and maintain healthy industrial relations.

Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, labour laws, PF/ESI, POSH, pollution control and fire safety, and aim for zero accidents.

Systems: Implement ERP, SOPs and internal controls, and give the Management accurate MIS.

Qualifications

B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production or Industrial Engineering (MBA preferred)

15 to 20+ years in manufacturing, preferably pumps, motors or industrial machinery

7+ years as Plant Head, Works Manager or General Manager with plant or P&L; responsibility

Experience managing skilled, semi-skilled and contract workforce

Key Skills

Lean and quality systems, costing and budgeting, Indian labour law, ERP/MIS, leadership and negotiation, and fluency in English and Tamil (Hindi is an advantage).

KPIs

Revenue and profit against budget, on-time delivery, productivity (OEE), rejection and complaint rates, inventory turnover, attrition, and safety and compliance record.
