About BetterDrones

BetterDrones is a drone intelligence and geospatial technology company specializing in drone inspections, GIS, LiDAR, mapping, surveying, and AI-powered infrastructure inspection solutions.

We work with power utilities, renewable energy companies, EPC contractors, railways, and government organizations to inspect, map, and manage critical infrastructure using advanced drone and geospatial technologies.

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Field Operations Executive with a Civil Engineering or Surveying background to manage and execute field survey and infrastructure inspection projects across India.

The role involves managing Surveyor and DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) teams, coordinating field activities, monitoring survey quality, handling client communication, and ensuring timely project execution.

This is a demanding, field-intensive position — not a desk-based operations or coordination job. Project locations may include difficult terrain, uneven ground, remote areas, long walking routes, and sites with limited accessibility. Candidates must be prepared to work in challenging field conditions and stay at project locations for extended periods.

We are particularly interested in professionals who have worked as Surveyors, DGPS Surveyors, Survey Engineers, or Civil Site Engineers and are ready to take ownership of teams, clients, and end-to-end field execution.

Key Responsibilities

Field Survey & Project Execution

- Plan, coordinate, and execute field surveying, DGPS, mapping, and infrastructure inspection projects.
- Understand project requirements, survey methodology, site conditions, manpower needs, and equipment requirements before deployment.
- Monitor field progress and ensure survey activities are completed as per project specifications and timelines.
- Visit project sites and actively supervise field execution whenever required.
- Ensure teams are prepared to work in challenging terrain, remote locations, and physically demanding field conditions.

Surveyor & DGPS Team Management

- Lead and manage Surveyors, DGPS Surveyors, field engineers, and other deployed personnel.
- Allocate work, plan daily routes, monitor productivity, and ensure adequate field coverage.
- Verify that teams understand survey instructions, coordinates, benchmarks, data collection requirements, and project deliverables.
- Resolve field-level challenges related to manpower, equipment, access, productivity, and survey execution.
- Maintain team discipline, accountability, attendance,

and adherence to company policies.

Client Coordination & Site Management

- Act as the primary point of contact for clients during field execution.
- Coordinate site access, survey requirements, permissions, daily progress, and project schedules.
- Communicate technical and operational issues clearly and professionally.
- Handle client queries, field-level escalations, and execution-related concerns.
- Provide regular progress updates and ensure client expectations are aligned with actual site conditions and project timelines.

Survey Quality & Technical Coordination

- Review survey records, field measurements, DGPS observations, coordinates, and daily field reports.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, survey procedures, and required accuracy standards.
- Coordinate with GIS, data processing, and project teams for data transfer, validation, and final deliverables.
- Identify gaps, errors, and incomplete field data and arrange corrective action.
- Maintain proper documentation and ensure data completeness before project closure.

Planning, Logistics & Equipment Management

- Plan manpower deployment, travel, accommodation, local transportation, and field logistics.
- Coordinate the movement and availability of DGPS equipment, GNSS receivers, survey instruments, drones, batteries, and accessories as applicable.
- Ensure equipment is maintained, handled, and used correctly.
- Anticipate operational risks and arrange resources to minimize downtime and project delays.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

- Prepare daily progress reports, project trackers, manpower reports, and field status updates.
- Monitor project timelines, team productivity, survey coverage, data quality, and pending activities.
- Escalate resource shortages, technical issues, and schedule risks promptly.
- Coordinate with management and internal departments to ensure timely project completion.

Required Experience & Qualifications

Essential Requirements

- 3–6 years of experience in civil surveying, DGPS/GNSS surveying, land surveying, infrastructure projects, or field operations.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Geomatics, or a related technical discipline.
- Practical understanding of field survey execution, survey instruments, site measurements, and survey documentation.
- Experience managing or coordinating field teams, preferably Surveyor and DGPS teams.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage client interactions professionally.
- Ability to plan field activities, resolve in office problems, and manage project deadlines.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, reporting, and project documentation.
- Willingness and physical readiness to work in demanding field conditions and travel extensively across India.

Preferred Experience

- Power transmission line and distribution network surveys.
- Transmission line route surveys and corridor mapping.
- DGPS, GNSS, RTK/PPK, Total Station, Auto Level, or similar surveying workflows.
- Railway, highway, solar, industrial, and other infrastructure surveys.
- LiDAR surveys, drone mapping, and geospatial data collection.
- Experience coordinating with government departments, power utilities, EPC contractors, and infrastructure clients.
- Hands-on experience as a Surveyor or Survey Engineer with subsequent team-management responsibilities.

Field Conditions — Please Read Before Applying

Candidates must understand the practical demands of this role:

- Projects may be located in remote, hilly, uneven, forested, rural, or otherwise difficult-to-access areas, depending on the assignment.
- Fieldwork may involve extensive walking, long outdoor working hours, changing weather, and physically demanding site conditions.
- Some projects require extended stays away from Noida, with travel schedules determined by operational requirements.
- The role requires active supervision of Surveyor and DGPS teams, not merely assigning tasks from the office.
- Candidates must be comfortable handling field personnel, resolving site-level issues, and communicating with clients under pressure.
- Work conditions vary by project, and candidates should be prepared for both relatively accessible sites and challenging terrain.
- Please apply only if you are genuinely comfortable with the field requirements and nationwide travel.

Why Join BetterDrones?

- Work on large-scale power and infrastructure surveying and inspection projects.
- Gain exposure to DGPS, GIS, LiDAR, drone mapping, and advanced geospatial technologies.
- Work with experienced professionals and enterprise infrastructure clients.
- Develop leadership experience in field operations and project execution.
- Build a career in the growing drone and geospatial technology industry.

Who Should Apply?

Civil Engineers, Surveyors, DGPS Surveyors, Survey Engineers, and field professionals who combine practical surveying knowledge, team-management ability, strong client communication, and a willingness to work in challenging field conditions.

Candidates with only office-based coordination experience and no relevant field or surveying exposure may not be suitable for this position.
