We are looking for an experienced export logistics skilled to handle shipments from our EOU and SEZ manufacturing units. A large share of these shipments are hazardous chemicals. The person will manage day-to-day exports, work closely with internal teams and logistics partners, and understand how shipment decisions affect safety, compliance and cost.
Key Responsibilities
Export Operations
- Plan and carry out sea and air export shipments with Sales, Production, Planning, Stores, QA and Customer Service.
- Arrange freight bookings, containers, transportation and customs clearance.
- Handle factory stuffing and self-sealing in line with the permission conditions.
- Track vessel and flight schedules, cut-offs and shipment progress, and inform stakeholders of any changes.
- Resolve booking issues, delays and documentation problems.
Hazardous Cargo (DG) Shipments
- Handle hazardous chemical exports by sea and air safely and in line with the applicable dangerous goods rules.
- Read Safety Data Sheets (SDS), especially the UN number, hazard class, packing group and marine pollutant status.
- Check that packaging is UN-approved and that marking, labelling and placarding are correct.
- Prepare and check DG declarations and other hazardous cargo documents before submission.
- Get DG approvals from shipping lines and airlines in advance, and plan around port, terminal, vessel and aircraft restrictions.
- Check segregation and compatibility when hazardous products are shipped together or with non-hazardous cargo.
EOU / SEZ Compliance
- Handle export procedures for both EOU and SEZ units.
- Make sure shipments follow the unit's approval conditions and applicable procedures.
- Coordinate with plant teams, customs brokers and the relevant authorities.
- Keep up to date with relevant Customs, DGFT, SEZ and GST changes, and flag anything that affects operations.
Documentation and Export Incentives
- Review invoices, packing lists, shipping bill checklists and BL/AWB drafts.
- Make sure quantities, values, HS codes, consignee details, Incoterms and SDS details match across all documents.
- Ensure correct declarations on export documents, including the scheme (EOU/SEZ), LUT, self-sealing details and export incentives such as RoDTEP.
- Coordinate Certificates of Origin, insurance and other shipment requirements.
- Follow up for final shipping documents and proof-of-export records.
GST and Incoterms
- Apply basic GST knowledge to export transactions and work with Finance on invoicing, e-way bills and refund records.
- Use Incoterms to decide responsibility for freight, insurance, delivery and customs.
- Check customer terms against freight quotations and shipping instructions before confirming arrangements.
Freight Costs and Accounting
- Get and compare freight quotations, including DG surcharges, and support negotiations.
- Check vendor invoices against agreed rates, Incoterms and the services actually provided.
- Understand debit and credit entries, vendor balances, advances and debit/credit notes.
- Find incorrect or duplicate charges and follow up on pending credits.
- Work with Finance on invoice processing, vendor reconciliation and payment follow-up.
- Avoid unnecessary detention, demurrage and storage charges.
Reporting
- Prepare SAP-based sales, pending-order and freight-cost reports.
- Maintain shipment trackers and pending-action lists.
- Keep shipment records ready for audits, reconciliations and management reviews.
- Suggest practical improvements to reduce delays and errors.
