About the Company:

Defmate is building sovereign AI for Indian defence, including the Nirnay Decision Engine and Defence Language Models.

The Founder has built, scaled and exited businesses before, with ventures collectively creating over US$100 million in value. This is another -1→1 journey.

Ideal Candidate

You may have built something before: a startup, a product, or joined an early team that had little more than an idea. Along the way you found yoou enjoy the 0→1 journey more than an already-defined job.

We’re looking for a deeply technical, entrepreneurial person to work directly with the Founder and help build Defmate from the ground up. This is not a coordination role. You will build, decide and ship.

What you will own

This role goes well beyond product management. You will work across:Product: Convert defence problems into products; own PRDs, roadmap, prototypes and deployments.

- Technology: Work closely with engineering/AI teams, challenge architecture and understand what is happening under the hood.
- Founder’s Office: Work directly with the Founder on priorities, new initiatives and important decisions.
- Customers: Sit with defence users, understand problems firsthand and translate them into solutions.
- Business Building: Evaluate new opportunities, partnerships,



pilots and use cases and take them from idea to execution.
- 0→1 Execution: When something important does not have an owner yet, you may become the owner.

Who should apply

We are looking for someone with 2–5 years of experience who is:

- Highly technical engineering / CS / AI / ML background preferred.
- A builder rather than a coordinator.
- Comfortable moving between code, product, customers and business.
- At least 1 year of experience working with cutting-edge AI models: building, fine-tuning, evaluating and deploying them.
- Experienced in startups, early-stage products or founding teams.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and unusually high ownership.

Ex-founders are particularly interesting to us. Whether your startup succeeded, failed or simply taught you what you want to build next matters less than having actually tried.

Where this can go

This isn’t designed to remain a “Founder’s Office” role.

As Defmate grows, the person who proves capable of understanding the technology, building products, leading teams and making good business decisions will naturally take on significantly larger product and technology leadership ownership.
