Job Purpose

To ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations and policies in the dairy industry. The EHS Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work workplace, driving sustainability initiatives, and ensuring the facility operates in compliance with local, national, and industry-specific environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Compliance

1. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to wastewater management, air emissions, and waste disposal specific to dairy production.

2. Implement systems to monitor water usage and energy efficiency, driving sustainability in operations.

3. Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and by-products from dairy processes.

4. Lead initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint and environmental impact of the facility.

5. Liaise with government agencies for environmental audits and inspections.

Health and Safety

1. Develop, implement, and enforce EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.

2. Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses for all dairy production and maintenance activities.

3. Oversee safety training programs for employees, ensuring proper handling of equipment and chemicals.

4. Investigate workplace incidents, near-misses, and occupational illnesses, and implement corrective and preventive measures.

5. Maintain and monitor safety equipment such as PPE, emergency response kits, and fire suppression systems.

Regulatory Compliance





1. Ensure adherence to local and international dairy industry standards such as ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management).

2. Maintain and update all necessary EHS documentation, permits, and licenses.

3. Prepare for and participate in third-party and government EHS audits.

Leadership and Training

1. Drive a culture of safety and environmental awareness among employees at all levels.

2. Provide EHS training programs, including onboarding, refresher courses, and emergency drills.

3. Collaborate with department heads to ensure EHS compliance in production, quality control, and logistics.

Key Skills and Competencies

- Strong knowledge of dairy industry processes and associated environmental and safety risks.

- Familiarity with wastewater treatment, ammonia systems, and biogas management in dairy facilities.

- Proficiency in risk assessment, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration and training.

- Proactive and detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Educational Qualifications and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.

- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in the food or dairy industry.

- Certification in safety standards like NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent is preferred.
