We are seeking an experienced Biodiversity Specialist with solid technical expertise in biodiversity baseline assessments, ecological surveys, Critical Habitat Assessment (CHA), and biodiversity impact assessment and management in accordance with IFC Performance Standard 6 (PS6). The candidate will contribute to Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD), Critical Habitat Assessments (CHA) across infrastructure, renewable energy, industrial, and other development sectors.

Essential Qualification:

- Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Biodiversity, Wildlife Science, Wildlife Conservation and Management, Ecology, Environmental Science, Zoology, Botany, Forestry, or a closely related discipline from a recognised university
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

Experience:

- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in biodiversity assessments, ecological field surveys, biodiversity impact assessments, conservation planning, and environmental consulting.
- Hands-on experience in conducting quadrat surveys, transect surveys, avifaunal surveys, vantage point (VP) surveys, bird and bat monitoring, bird flight activity assessments.
- Experience in undertaking Critical Habitat Assessments (CHA) in accordance with IFC PS6 and Guidance Note 6.
- Experience in preparing Biodiversity Management Plans (BMP), Biodiversity Action Plans (BAP), Species Conservation Plans, and biodiversity monitoring programmes.




- Experience in assessing biodiversity-related risks and impacts associated with renewable energy projects (solar, wind and hybrid), transmission lines, infrastructure, industrial facilities.
- Conduct flora and fauna inventories, vegetation assessments, habitat mapping, and species distribution studies
- Identify threatened, endemic, restricted-range, migratory, and congregatory species using the IUCN Red List, relevant national legislation, and other recognised biodiversity databases
- Assess potential ecological sensitivities, including protected areas, Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs), wildlife corridors, and other areas of biodiversity significance.

Work Profile:

- Independently plan, coordinate, and undertake Site visit, biodiversity baseline assessments, ecological surveys, and field investigations, including seasonal and species-specific surveys, as required by project scope.

Skills:

- Strong understanding of IFC Performance Standard 6 (PS6), Guidance Note 6
- Excellent verbal and report writing skills. Well-conversant with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Lead and work collaboratively and supervise the members of the team as applicable.
- Willingness to travel 50-60% of the available time
