The

Backend Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and operation of the platform's server-side systems and cloud infrastructure.

The role is approximately 70% application engineering and 30% infrastructure and operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.

- Design and maintain the PostgreSQL schema, including migrations, indexing, and query performance optimisation.

- Develop core platform services, including authentication, payments, notifications, search, and media handling.

- Manage AWS infrastructure, including compute, RDS, S3, CloudFront, IAM, networking, and cost management.

- Maintain development and staging environments on Railway with sufficient parity to production that defects are identified prior to release.

- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, and alerting.

- Maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures, including periodic restore testing against a defined recovery time objective.

- Maintain API documentation sufficient for independent integration by mobile and web engineering.

- 2+ years of production backend engineering experience, including 2+ years with Node.js and TypeScriptDemon- strated PostgreSQL proficiency, including production query performance troubleshootingHands

- ience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tooling [AWS

- ity to operate as the sole backend engineer for an extended period, and to identify when additional resourcing is required

Preferred Qualifications

- Payment gateway integration experience [Razorpay / Stripe]

- Experience with real-time systems, including WebSockets and push notification infrastructure

- Marketplace domain experience, including bookings, availability management, cancellations, and payouts.
