Role: Agronomist – Field Knowledge, Crop Advisory & App Content Validation

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Agronomist with strong practical field knowledge, in-depth understanding of crops and their life cycles, soil health, crop varieties, fertilizers, and pesticides.

The candidate will be responsible for validating the technical accuracy of agricultural information available in our app and providing practical, reliable, and actionable crop advisory to farmers over phone calls and chat.

The ideal candidate should be able to connect theoretical agricultural knowledge with real-world farming conditions, identify crop-related problems, and recommend appropriate solutions based on crop stage, soil conditions, local practices, weather, and other relevant factors.

Key Responsibilities

- Crop Knowledge: Strong understanding of crop life cycles, growth stages, varieties, sowing, irrigation, and harvesting practices.
- Vegetables & Fruits: Practical knowledge of nursery raising, transplanting, multiple pickings, and orchard practices.
- Soil & Fertilizers: Practical knowledge of soil types, soil health, nutrient deficiencies, fertilizers, dosage, and application methods.
- Pesticides & Crop Protection: Knowledge of insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, common pests, crop diseases, and secure application practices.
- Pesticide Regulation: Verify every recommended product against CIB&RC; registration and the crop's label; flag banned or restricted products; check the waiting period (PHI) before approval.
- App Content Validation: Verify the accuracy of crop information, cultivation practices, crop-stage recommendations, fertilizer dosages, and pesticide details mentioned in the app.
- Photo & Video Validation: Confirm that pest, disease, and deficiency photos are correctly identified; review video scripts and voice-overs for accuracy.
- Translation Check:



Verify Hindi/Marathi translations of doses and safety instructions.
- AI Content Review: Review AI-generated agricultural content and correct errors.
- Practical Crop Advisory: Diagnose crop-related problems and provide actionable, field-oriented solutions to farmers over phone calls and chat.
- Field Knowledge: Validate theoretical recommendations against actual farming conditions, local practices, seasonal factors, and regional crop requirements.
- Farmer Communication: Explain technical agricultural concepts in simple language and recommend practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Problem Resolution: Identify nutrient deficiencies, pest attacks, diseases, and crop growth issues; escalate complex cases when necessary.
- Content Improvement: Identify incorrect or outdated agricultural information and suggest appropriate corrections, backing every correction with a reliable source (ICAR, State Agricultural University, KVK, CIB&RC;) and marking "not known" instead of guessing.
- Team Coordination: Work with the product, development, translation, and video teams.

Required Skills

- B.Sc./M.Sc. (Agriculture) in Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Horticulture, or Soil Science.
- 4–5 years of experience in agronomy, crop advisory, agricultural extension, or a related field.
- Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of crops, soil, fertilizers, and pesticides.
- Good knowledge of CIB&RC; lists and product labels.
- Ability to diagnose crop problems and validate agricultural recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills for phone- and chat-based farmer support.
- Familiarity with agricultural mobile apps and digital advisory platforms.
- Fluent in Hindi (written and spoken).
- Knowledge of regional crops and local languages is an advantage.
