Amgen seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design and scale end-to-end ML and generative AI platforms. The role involves building enterprise-grade infrastructure, MLOps services, and governance controls that enable data scientists and practitioners to develop, deploy, and monitor models securely at scale.

Responsibilities

Engineer end-to-end ML pipelines with data ingestion, feature engineering, training, evaluation, and automated model promotion

Harden research code into production-grade microservices using Docker/Kubernetes with REST, gRPC, or event-driven APIs

Optimize model performance and cost at scale through algorithm selection, quantization, pruning, and auto-scaling tuning

Instrument comprehensive observability including real-time metrics, distributed tracing, drift detection, and bias monitoring

Embed security and responsible-AI controls including data encryption, access policies, lineage tracking,



and explainability mechanisms

Requirements

- 3–5 years of experience in AI/ML and enterprise software engineering
- Deep expertise in ML algorithms: regression, tree ensembles, deep learning, transformers, LLMs, and RAG techniques
- Proficiency in Python and Java; Docker/Kubernetes; AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud platforms
- Solid knowledge of MLOps tools: Kubeflow, SageMaker Pipelines, GitHub Actions, vector databases
- Proven ability to select, integrate, and scale AI SaaS/PaaS offerings and custom ML services
- Master's degree in Computer Science/Data Science or Bachelor's with 8+ years relevant experience
- Exceptional stakeholder management and ability to articulate technical trade-offs to executives
