Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and implement applications on IBM z/OS mainframe platforms using languages like COBOL, PL/I, and JCL
- Develop and maintain online transaction processing (OLTP) applications using CICS and interact with DB2 databases, including SQL query optimization and data integrity management
- Create, modify, and optimize Job Control Language (JCL) scripts for batch processing, data transfers, and system utilities
- Execute the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, system design, coding, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, perform performance tuning, and implement preventative measures to enhance system stability
- Collaborate with system analysts, project managers, and other IT professionals to translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Document code, system designs, and provide technical support or training to end users




- Participate in legacy system modernization, including migration to newer platforms or integration with up-to-date technologies

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Strong programming skills in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and IMS
- Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jenkins and Git is advantageous
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies like SCRUM and experience with both waterfall and Agile frameworks
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Relevant Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related fields
- Certifications such as SAS, ITIL, CISSP, or LOMA280/290 may be preferred depending on the organization
