Mechanical Design Engineer/Automation Design Engineer

Location: Hyderabad | Experience: 5 to 10 Years | Qualification: BE/B.Tech Mechanical Engineering

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Automation Design Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Machine Design, Special Purpose Machines (SPM), and Industrial Automation. The candidate will be responsible for developing mechanical concepts and detailed designs for customized automation machinery based on customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop conceptual and detailed mechanical designs for SPMs, Automated machinery and custom automation equipment.
- Convert customer requirements into machine concepts and technical solutions.
- Design mechanisms, Machine structures, Fixtures, Tooling and Material-handling systems.
- Work on Robotic automation, Pick-and-place, Assembly, Welding and other automated systems.
- Create and review 3D models, large assemblies, 2D manufacturing drawings, GD&T; and BOMs.
- Design Sheet Metal components, Weldments and fabricated machine structures.
- Select appropriate Materials, Purchased components and standard machine elements.
- Select and size pneumatic components, motors, gearboxes, linear guides, actuators and other motion components.
- Perform necessary mechanical/design calculations for machine components and motion systems.
- Ensure designs meet manufacturing, fabrication and assembly requirements (DFM/DFA).




- Participate in internal and customer design reviews, incorporate feedback and take ownership through final design release.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including automation, controls, manufacturing and project teams.
- Required Skills & Experience

- 5 to 10 years of core hands-on experience in Machine Design, SPM or Industrial Automation.
- Robust experience in concept design and development of customized automation machines.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks Modeling, Assemblies, Drafting, Sheet Metal and Weldments.
- Good knowledge of machine mechanisms, mechanical components and engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience with Pneumatics, Robotics and Industrial Automation.
- Experience in material selection and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of motors, gearboxes, linear motion components and bought-out components.
- Experience creating manufacturing drawings, GD&T; and BOMs.
- Ability to understand customer requirements and independently develop practical engineering solutions.
- Experience working with US-based customers/design teams is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred Industry Experience

Candidates from SPM, Machine Building, Industrial Automation, Automotive Automation, Robotic Automation, Assembly Automation, Material Handling or similar engineering environments are preferred.
