Summary:
As an SAP Ariba Supplier Management Business Architect, you will execute configuration, build and test work to an approved design, accountable for the quality of your own deliverables for Supplier Management within the Procurement tower of the DRS SAP programme. The role exists to design supplier lifecycle and performance management on SAP Ariba and its integration to the SAP backend, so that onboarding, qualification and risk controls govern downstream buying.
Delivery quality is personal at this level. Performance is assessed on configuration that holds under integration test, on defect recurrence, and on documentation complete enough for another engineer to assume ownership. AI-assisted engineering is expected as standard practice, with every generated output validated before transport.

Roles & Responsibilities:
Scope & Decision Rights: Execute within an approved design. You determine how a configuration item is built, tested and documented design changes, scope calls and estimates are escalated to the workstream lead.
Supplier Lifecycle Design: Configure Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance: registration, qualification, segmentation, modular questionnaires, approval flows and supplier status governance.
Supplier Risk & Compliance: Configure the supplier risk and compliance controls that determine whether a supplier can be transacted with, and make those controls enforceable in the downstream buying process.
Ariba to S/4HANA Integration: Execute and maintain the integration design through Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway, including supplier replication to the SAP vendor master, field mapping, error handling and reconciliation.
Process Architecture & Fit-to-Standard: Support fit-to-standard discussions, challenge requirements that push the solution off standard, and document the decisions and their consequences.
Integration & Dependencies: Work with the MM Purchasing team for downstream buying controls, with Master Data for vendor master governance, and with Finance for the payment-relevant supplier attributes.
Delivery Execution & Quality: Deliver assigned configuration, build and test items against sprint commitments, with configuration rationale, unit test evidence and cutover steps documented to handover standard.
Defect Diagnosis & Resolution:



Investigate defects and incidents affecting supplier replication failures or qualification controls being bypassed in the live buying process, isolating root cause across configuration, master data and interface layers and confirming resolution through regression.
AI-Assisted Engineering & Joule: Apply AI assistants to analyse questionnaire and workflow configuration, draft test scenarios for supplier onboarding and summarise integration error logs, validating every generated output against system behaviour before transport. Use SAP Joule for Consultants for configuration guidance and troubleshooting, and flag manual steps in the module that are candidates for a Joule agent.
Knowledge Transfer: Document reusable configuration patterns, support analysts joining the workstream, and escalate blockers promptly.
Collaboration: Work with functional leads, test teams and downstream modules, reporting item status in terms of delivery impact.

Ariba SLP: Hands-on configuration of Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance, including registration, qualification, segmentation and modular questionnaires.
Ariba Integration: Practical experience with Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway and supplier data replication to SAP vendor master, including error handling.
Supplier Master Governance: Working expertise in vendor master data structure, duplicate control and the governance model around supplier creation.
Process Architecture: Capability to capture requirements, define the target process and produce a defensible solution design rather than a configuration inventory.
Business Case & Stakeholder Work: Practical experience translating procurement business needs into solution and operating model decisions with clear impact statements.
AI-Assisted Delivery: Evidenced use of AI coding and analysis assistants in live SAP delivery, demonstrable through the specific outputs produced and the validation applied.
SAP Joule for Consultants: Working use of SAP Joule for Consultants in configuration and troubleshooting, including verification of the guidance returned against actual system behaviour. Where prior Joule exposure is absent, working proficiency is expected within 90 days of joining.
Evidence of AI Adoption: Demonstrable adoption of AI in delivery work. This may be evidenced through use of AI coding or analysis assistants, or through equivalent contribution such as reusable accelerators, scripted automation of recurring delivery tasks,



or codified patterns adopted by others.
Delivery Discipline: Record of meeting sprint commitments on an enterprise SAP programme, with defect and rework rates that withstood review.
Ownership & Communication: Capable of working an ambiguous defect to root cause independently and of stating clearly when a committed date is at risk.

Additional Information:
