It identifies and executes AI use cases to enhance operational efficiency, customer experience, revenue growth, profitability, innovation, and risk reduction.

The role

You own how the platform is built. You are the hands-on technical lead for the core platform and the data layer that every product runs on. You set the architecture, write and review the critical code, and hold the bar on quality, security and scale. You take over day-to-day platform and data architecture from the CTO.

Engineers across the platform look to you for technical direction, design review and code review.

Stack you should be familiar with

- Data: open lakehouse (Trino, Apache Iceberg), change data capture, data quality monitoring
- Ingestion: AI-assisted connectors for ERP, SQL databases, files and SaaS sources
- AI: leading LLMs on AWS and GCP, agents and tool-calling (MCP), vector search
- Apps and services: Python, FastAPI, Next.js, MongoDB, Postgres
- Observability: OpenTelemetry-based tracing, LLM tracing and evals, product analytics
- Cloud: AWS and GCP, Docker, Kubernetes
- Compliance: SOC 2, HIPAA-ready deployments

What you will own

- Core platform architecture: security, scalability, multi-tenancy, connector standards, extension points.
- Data access and performance: a governed data access layer that serves interactive apps with fast response times alongside heavy AI agent workloads, with cost and latency under control.
- Interfaces between teams: clear,



written contracts between platform components so product teams build on the platform, not around it.
- Code quality: review standards, design reviews, hands-on review of critical paths. Raise the bar for the whole team.
- Security and compliance by design: least privilege, fine-grained data access controls that AI cannot bypass, secrets management, tenant isolation, audit trails. Turn compliance requirements into architecture, not paperwork.
- Reliability: SLOs, observability, on-call design, self-healing pipelines, and scaling as customer usage grows.
- Technical direction for data engineers and full stack engineers.

Must have

- 8+ years building backend and data platforms, with recent hands-on coding. You still ship.
- Built production data pipelines and platform infrastructure: lakehouse or distributed query engines (Trino, Spark, Iceberg, Delta or similar), CDC and ingestion, data quality.
- Strong distributed systems and multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
- Security-first: IAM, least privilege, secrets management, tenant isolation, audit. Experience in a SOC 2, HIPAA or similarly regulated workplace.
- Hands-on AI exposure: shipped LLM or agent features in production, and understand evals, tool-calling and MCP well enough to design platforms for them.
- Has made architecture decisions at scale and lived with the consequences.
- Leads through design and code review. People want your review.

- Query engine internals, catalog performance, query planning
- OpenTelemetry and LLM observability tooling
- Kubernetes and Terraform across AWS and GCP
- Enterprise system integration (ERP and other line-of-business systems)
- Healthcare, defense or financial compliance programs

This role is not A people manager. A pure DevOps or SRE role.
