Company Description Superfan.ng is an edtech learning platform focused on African languages and cultural knowledge. The product is a gamified, quiz-first app that explores African proverbs, traditions, rites of passage, festivals, folklore, and customs. Designed for Africans and the global diaspora, Superfan.ng aims to make language learning and cultural exploration engaging and accessible.

The team combines technology, education, and culture to build interactive learning experiences that deepen users’ connection to African heritage.

Role Description The Principal Software Engineer will lead the design, development, and scaling of Superfan.ng’s core platform and infrastructure in a full-time remote capacity. This role involves architecting back-end services, writing high-quality, maintainable code, and guiding technical decisions that impact performance, reliability, and security.

The Principal Software

Engineer will collaborate with product, design, and content teams to translate learning and engagement requirements into robust technical solutions, while mentoring other engineers and promoting best practices in software development. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing code, improving system architecture, optimizing data flows and APIs,



and driving continuous improvement in development processes and tooling.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Computer Science concepts, including algorithms, data structures, and systems design.
- Proficiency in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, with experience building scalable, distributed applications.
- Advanced Programming skills in one or more modern languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go) and familiarity with relevant frameworks.
- Deep knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and ability to design clean, modular, and extensible architectures.
- Experience leading engineering teams or projects, including mentoring, code review, and technical decision-making.
- Background in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), databases, and API design; experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices is a plus.

- Ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional environment, with robust communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Interest in edtech, language learning, or African cultures and diaspora communities is highly beneficial.
