Role Description The IBM Mainframe professional will work in a part-time, remote role, contributing to the design, development, maintenance, and optimization of mainframe-based applications and systems. Day-to-day tasks may include coding and debugging mainframe programs, performing batch and online processing, and monitoring system performance to ensure stability and efficiency. The role involves analyzing business requirements, preparing technical specifications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe solutions with other enterprise systems.

The IBM Mainframe professional will also participate in testing, troubleshooting production issues, and implementing enhancements and fixes while following established security, compliance,



and quality standards.

Qualifications

- Strong IBM Mainframe knowledge, including experience with core mainframe concepts, environments, and utilities.
- Proficiency in mainframe programming languages and tools, such as COBOL, JCL, and related development or debugging utilities.
- Experience with mainframe databases and data management practices, including VSAM, DB2, or similar data storage solutions.
- Understanding of batch and online processing, job scheduling, performance tuning, and system monitoring on mainframe platforms.
- Ability to analyze business and technical requirements, prepare clear documentation, and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with attention to detail and a focus on reliability, security, and scalability.
- Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC) practices, version control, and testing methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Comfort working in a remote, part-time capacity, managing priorities independently and meeting agreed timelines.
- Experience in enterprise IT environments or financial, insurance, or banking domains using mainframe systems is an advantage.
