About KEF:

It has been close to almost 2 decades since we embarked on our mission to equip economically disadvantaged children and youth with education and foundational skills, galvanizing them towards a better future. Our ‘Inch Wide Mile Deep’ approach and home-grown projects focused on quality education for the low-income segment have been instrumental in shaping the success of our projects across India. KEF’s approach is primarily three-pronged:

- holistic interventions with children and educators in school,
- equitable scholarships for higher studies, and
- vocational education and skills training for livelihood.

Strengthening school leadership and teacher capacity building, creating a digital ecosystem and learning environment in schools, equipping middle school students with confidence and skills of communicative English, upskilling teachers to provide foundational literacy and numeracy skills, and supporting districts in building and running model schools—these are key interventions run by KEF. KEF launched the Kotak Kanya Scholarship in 2021 to offer financial and academic support to meritorious girl students in pursuit of higher education from all over India.

Kotak Junior

Scholarship supports meritorious students from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region in pursuing 11th and 12th standards. KEF’s Vocational Education and Livelihood Project upskills unemployed youth from economically weaker sections of society and coaches them in domain know-how, the basics of IT and spoken English, life skills, and personality development. It ensures placements for all eligible participants so they can stride with confidence into any qualified sphere.

KEF is now on the cusp of change as it prepares for the next chapter in its journey toward empowering the youth with quality education and livelihood. Armed with its vast experience and expertise, the organization now aims to scale its depth as well as the breadth of its reach.



KEF’s philosophy is evolving from ‘school as a unit’ to working toward district/state-level education transformation.

Kotak Education Foundation is the primary implementing agency for the CSR initiatives of Kotak Mahindra Group in Education. Kotak Karma is the corporate social responsibility (CSR) identity of Kotak Mahindra Group companies.

: Legal & Compliance

Department: Business Excellence

Qualification: CA Finalist / CMA / LLB / Company Secretary (CS), preferably with a finance or commerce background.

Experience: 2–5 years

Key Responsibilities

- Understand the organisation’s structure, functions, processes, and the purpose of various legal d ocuments.• Apply commercial and business process understanding while reviewing agreements and assessing contractual risks.
- Draft, review, and legally vet MOUs, NDAs, vendor agreements, service contracts, and other legal documents.
- Review contractual clauses relating to indemnity, limitation of liability, termination, confidentiality, data protection, representations and warranties, and dispute resolution.
- Identify legal risks and recommend appropriate amendments to contractual terms.
- Understand and monitor CSR compliance requirements under the Companies Act, 2013, and applicable CSR Rules.
- Maintain legal trackers, agreement records, approval workflows, and compliance documentation.





• Conduct legal research and monitor changes in applicable laws and regulations.

- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external legal advisors for legal reviews and finalisation of agreements.

- Knowledge of POCSO, POSH, and child protection laws, policies, and compliance requirements, along with experience in drafting and reviewing organisational policies and SOPs.
- Support compliance relating to data protection (DPDPA, 2023), corporate governance, and applicable statutory requirements.
- Assist in planning and conducting internal compliance audits, reviewing processes and controls, and identifying gaps in compliance with organisational policies and SOPs.
- Prepare audit observations, document findings, recommend corrective actions, and follow up with relevant teams on the closure of audit issues.

Required Skills

- Strong understanding of legal provisions, contractual clauses, and risk assessment.
- Experience in legal drafting, contract vetting, and CSR compliance.
- Strong commercial understanding, with the ability to assess business processes, financial implications, and commercial risks while reviewing agreements and contractual terms.
- Strong analytical, presentation and communication skills, with the ability to present legal matters, compliance updates, audit findings, and risk assessments effectively to senior management.

• Proficiency in MS Word Track Changes, PPT and Excel.

Preferred Experience: Legal vetting and contract management experience in the NGO, CSR, education, or non-profi t sector.
