Role & responsibilities
Assess and monitor newborns' vital signs, temperature, oxygen saturation, and clinical condition.
Provide routine and specialized nursing care to premature and critically ill neonates.
Monitor incubators, radiant warmers, ventilators, CPAP devices, and other neonatal equipment within the nurse's competency.
Administer medications, IV fluids, and prescribed treatments accurately according to hospital protocols.
Assist with neonatal resuscitation and emergency management within the scope of training.
Maintain aseptic techniques, hand hygiene, and infection prevention practices.
Support feeding through breastfeeding, expressed breast milk, or tube feeding as prescribed.
Maintain accurate nursing records, intake/output charts, medication records, and patient observations.
Educate and support parents regarding newborn care, feeding, hygiene, and bonding.
Follow patient identification, medication safety, and neonatal safeguarding policies.
Collaborate with doctors and other healthcare specialists during rounds and procedures.
Ensure proper functioning, cleanliness, and availability of NICU equipment and supplies.
