About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of critical power electronics hardware, such as traction inverters, DC-DC converters, and onboard chargers. You will not only be a hands-on technical expert but also a guide and mentor for junior engineers, ensuring the team delivers robust, reliable, and high-performance hardware from concept to production. Roles & Responsibilities Technical Execution & Leadership:
• Own the complete hardware development lifecycle for power electronics subsystems, from initial requirements and architecture definition through component selection, design, validation, and production release.
• Lead the design of high-voltage, high-power density circuits, including schematic capture, component selection (e.g., Si/SiC MOSFETs, IGBTs, Gate Drivers, Magnetics, Capacitors), and worst-case circuit analysis.
• Perform critical design calculations for efficiency, thermal performance, stress analysis, and reliability.
• Provide expert guidance and oversight during PCB layout, specifying stack-up, placement, and routing rules for high-power, high-frequency, and mixed-signal circuits.
• Serve as the technical authority for design reviews (schematic, layout, DFMEA), identifying potential risks and ensuring designs meet automotive-grade standards for performance, durability, and EMI/EMC. Mentorship & Team Development:
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and interns.
• Develop and document best practices for power electronics design, simulation,
and testing to elevate the team's overall capability. Validation & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Define and execute hardware validation plans (DVP&R;), including bench testing, system integration, and environmental/durability testing.
• Collaborate closely with Firmware, Mechanical and Thermal teams to ensure the system is optimised for performance, manufacturability, and cost.
• Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting for complex hardware issues, driving solutions to closure. Requirements
• M.
S. or B.
S. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in the design and development of power electronics hardware (e.g., Inverters, DCDC Converters, OBC, Motor Drives).
• Proven, hands-on experience with the full product development cycle: requirements, simulation, schematic, layout, prototyping, validation, and production launch.
• Deep understanding of power semiconductor devices (Si/SiC/GaN), magnetic component design, and thermal management.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., KiCAD, Altium Designer)
• Solid analytical skills with experience in circuit simulation (e.g., LTspice, PSIM) and worst-case analysis.
• Experience in the automotive industry, with knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., ISO 26262, AEC-Q100, CISPR 12/25).
• Proficiency with lab equipment for power electronics validation (oscilloscopes, network analyzers, thermal cameras).
• Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and compliance testing.
• Demonstrated experience in guiding or mentoring other engineers. Location
