Job Description: Lab Technician – Pathology

Department: Pathology
Designation: Lab Technician
Location: VPS Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi
Employment Type: Full time
Experience: 1–2 years preferred
Salary: As per industry standards and candidate experience

Key Responsibilities
Collect, receive, label, and process patient specimens, including blood, urine, and other biological samples.
Perform routine pathology investigations, including hematology, clinical pathology, and related laboratory tests.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
Prepare reagents, stains, and laboratory materials as required.
Ensure proper specimen handling, storage, and disposal according to established protocols.
Perform internal quality control procedures and maintain accurate quality control records.
Follow infection control practices, biosafety guidelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Maintain laboratory registers, test records, and documentation as per hospital policies and NABH requirements.
Identify and report abnormal results, technical errors,



or equipment malfunctions to the concerned supervisor.
Coordinate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure timely and accurate test results.
Ensure proper biomedical waste segregation and disposal.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the laboratory.

Educational Qualification
DMLT or B.Sc. MLT from a recognized institution.

Required Skills
Knowledge of routine pathology laboratory procedures.
Ability to handle biological specimens safely and accurately.
Familiarity with laboratory equipment and quality control procedures.
Positive attention to detail and accuracy.
Knowledge of infection control and biomedical waste management.
Valuable communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.

Preferred Experience
1–2 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory
